I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob’s descendants,‘ Seek me in vain.’ I, the Lord, speak the truth; I declare what is right.

I have not spoken in secret. I have not spoken from a dark place. I have not said to Jacob’s people,‘ It is useless to look for me.’ I am the Lord. I always speak the truth. I always say what is right.

I publicly proclaim bold promises. I do not whisper obscurities in some dark corner. I would not have told the people of Israel to seek me if I could not be found. I, the Lord, speak only what is true and declare only what is right.

Draw near to me, hear this: from the beginning I have not spoken in secret, from the time it came to be I have been there.” And now the Lord God has sent me, and his Spirit.

For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel:“ Seek me and live;

God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?Behold, I received a command to bless: he has blessed, and I cannot revoke it.

You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.

On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out,“ If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said,‘ Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood.

Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Selah

You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.

“ Your words have been hard against me, says the Lord. But you say,‘ How have we spoken against you?’You have said,‘ It is vain to serve God. What is the profit of our keeping his charge or of walking as in mourning before the Lord of hosts?

The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times.

The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether.More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.

Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

Jesus answered him,“ I have spoken openly to the world. I have always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where all Jews come together. I have said nothing in secret.

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is acceptable to him.

The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy;they are established forever and ever, to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness.

And when they say to you,“ Inquire of the mediums and the necromancers who chirp and mutter,” should not a people inquire of their God? Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living?

Does not wisdom call? Does not understanding raise her voice?On the heights beside the way, at the crossroads she takes her stand;beside the gates in front of the town, at the entrance of the portals she cries aloud:“ To you, O men, I call, and my cry is to the children of man.

“ For this commandment that I command you today is not too hard for you, neither is it far off.It is not in heaven, that you should say,‘ Who will ascend to heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say,‘ Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’But the word is very near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it.

“ The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

Who is this who comes from Edom, in crimsoned garments from Bozrah, he who is splendid in his apparel, marching in the greatness of his strength?“ It is I, speaking in righteousness, mighty to save.”

and he went out to meet Asa and said to him,“ Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: The Lord is with you while you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.

By myself I have sworn; from my mouth has gone out in righteousness a word that shall not return:‘ To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear allegiance.’

For I was ashamed to ask the king for a band of soldiers and horsemen to protect us against the enemy on our way, since we had told the king,“ The hand of our God is for good on all who seek him, and the power of his wrath is against all who forsake him.”

When the humble see it they will be glad; you who seek God, let your hearts revive.

Now therefore in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of the Lord, and in the hearing of our God, observe and seek out all the commandments of the Lord your God, that you may possess this good land and leave it for an inheritance to your children after you forever.

And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven.And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language.And they were amazed and astonished, saying,“ Are not all these who are speaking Galileans?And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language?

at the head of the noisy streets she cries out; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks:

“ Cry aloud; do not hold back; lift up your voice like a trumpet; declare to my people their transgression, to the house of Jacob their sins.Yet they seek me daily and delight to know my ways, as if they were a nation that did righteousness and did not forsake the judgment of their God; they ask of me righteous judgments; they delight to draw near to God.‘ Why have we fasted, and you see it not? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you take no knowledge of it?’ Behold, in the day of your fast you seek your own pleasure, and oppress all your workers.

[ Tsadhe] Righteous are you, O Lord, and right are your rules.You have appointed your testimonies in righteousness and in all faithfulness.

But as for me, my prayer is to you, O Lord. At an acceptable time, O God, in the abundance of your steadfast love answer me in your saving faithfulness.

So Jesus proclaimed, as he taught in the temple,“ You know me, and you know where I come from. But I have not come of my own accord. He who sent me is true, and him you do not know.

“ The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.

And here he is, speaking openly, and they say nothing to him! Can it be that the authorities really know that this is the Christ?

And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.

Hear, for I will speak noble things, and from my lips will come what is right,

“‘ This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”

“ Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near;let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

All the nations gather together, and the peoples assemble. Who among them can declare this, and show us the former things? Let them bring their witnesses to prove them right, and let them hear and say, It is true.“ You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord,“ and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me.
