It is I who made the earth and created mankind on it. My own hands stretched out the heavens; I marshaled their starry hosts.

I made the earth. I created human beings to live there. My own hands spread out the heavens. I put all the stars in their places.

I made the earth and created man on it; it was my hands that stretched out the heavens, and I commanded all their host.

With my great power and outstretched arm I made the earth and its people and the animals that are on it, and I give it to anyone I please.

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance?

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

Then God said,“ Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.

A prophecy: The word of the Lord concerning Israel. The Lord, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the human spirit within a person, declares:
