This is what the Lord says— the Holy One of Israel and your Creator:“ Do you question what I do for my children? Do you give me orders about the work of my hands?

以色列的圣者，造以色列的主耶和华这样说：“你们可以问我将要来的事，关于我的众子和我手所作的，你们也可以吩咐我回答。

以色列的圣者，以色列的塑造者耶和华如此说：“你们当问我即将来临的事！关于我的子民和我手的作为，难道你们要命令我吗？

以色列之聖者，那塑造以色列的、永恆主這麼說：『關於我眾子的事、你們要詰問我麼？關於我手所作的、你們要統管我麼？

以色列的聖者，以色列的塑造者耶和華如此說：「你們當問我即將來臨的事！關於我的子民和我手的作為，難道你們要命令我嗎？

以色列之聖者耶和華、肇造以色列者曰、論及未來之事、爾豈能詰我乎、論及我子、暨我手所為者、爾豈能命我乎、

肇造以色列邦之聖主、耶和華曰、予肇造斯民、莫非赤子、我所為、爾能詰我乎。

甄陶以色列之主、即以色列之聖主如是云、爾曹可問我未來之事、至於我諸子、我手所造者、可聽我定命、或作論及未來之事爾可詰我乎至於我諸子我手所造者爾可命我乎

“ This is what the Lord says— the Holy One of Israel, and its Maker: Concerning things to come, do you question me about my children, or give me orders about the work of my hands?

The Lord is the Holy One of Israel. He made them. He says to them,“ Are you asking me about what will happen to my children? Are you telling me what I should do with what my hands have made?

Thus says the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and the one who formed him:“ Ask me of things to come; will you command me concerning my children and the work of my hands?

This is what the LORD, the Holy One of Israel and its Maker, says:“ Ask me what is to happen to my sons, and instruct me about the work of my hands.

This is what the Lord says, the Holy One of Israel and his Maker:“ Ask Me about the things to come concerning My sons, And you shall commit to Me the work of My hands.

Thus says the Lord, The Holy One of Israel, and his Maker:“ Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons; And concerning the work of My hands, you command Me.

Thus saith Jehovah, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: Ask me of the things that are to come; concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands, command ye me.

This is what the Lord, the Holy One of Israel and its Maker, says:“ Ask Me what is to happen to My sons, and instruct Me about the work of My hands.

Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.

This is what the LORD says, the Holy One of Israel, the one who formed him, concerning things to come:“ How dare you question me about my children! How dare you tell me what to do with the work of my own hands!

Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel and his Maker says:“ You ask me about the things that are to come, concerning my sons, and you command me concerning the work of my hands!

Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them.’”

I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.

For when they see their many children and all the blessings I have given them, they will recognize the holiness of the Holy One of Jacob. They will stand in awe of the God of Israel.

This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:“ I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow.

On the day the Lord gave the Israelites victory over the Amorites, Joshua prayed to the Lord in front of all the people of Israel. He said,“ Let the sun stand still over Gibeon, and the moon over the valley of Aijalon.”

Tears of joy will stream down their faces, and I will lead them home with great care. They will walk beside quiet streams and on smooth paths where they will not stumble. For I am Israel’s father, and Ephraim is my oldest child.

All your people will be righteous. They will possess their land forever, for I will plant them there with my own hands in order to bring myself glory.

Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

I am the Lord, your Holy One, Israel’s Creator and King.

I have made Israel for myself, and they will someday honor me before the whole world.

“ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am ready to hear Israel’s prayers and to increase their numbers like a flock.

And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

He urged them to ask the God of heaven to show them his mercy by telling them the secret, so they would not be executed along with the other wise men of Babylon.

And yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand.

“ In this way, I will make known my holy name among my people of Israel. I will not let anyone bring shame on it. And the nations, too, will know that I am the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.

The Philistine rulers held a great festival, offering sacrifices and praising their god, Dagon. They said,“ Our god has given us victory over our enemy Samson!”

“ In that day,” says the Lord,“ I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they will be my people.

During the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, learned from reading the word of the Lord, as revealed to Jeremiah the prophet, that Jerusalem must lie desolate for seventy years.So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and fasting. I also wore rough burlap and sprinkled myself with ashes.

For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes.There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.

For the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will say,“ Blessed be Egypt, my people. Blessed be Assyria, the land I have made. Blessed be Israel, my special possession!”

For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I gave Egypt as a ransom for your freedom; I gave Ethiopia and Seba in your place.

“ I thought to myself,‘ I would love to treat you as my own children!’ I wanted nothing more than to give you this beautiful land— the finest possession in the world. I looked forward to your calling me‘ Father,’ and I wanted you never to turn from me.

“ Yet the time will come when Israel’s people will be like the sands of the seashore— too many to count! Then, at the place where they were told,‘ You are not my people,’ it will be said,‘ You are children of the living God.’

“ A period of seventy sets of seven has been decreed for your people and your holy city to finish their rebellion, to put an end to their sin, to atone for their guilt, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to confirm the prophetic vision, and to anoint the Most Holy Place.Now listen and understand! Seven sets of seven plus sixty two sets of seven will pass from the time the command is given to rebuild Jerusalem until a ruler— the Anointed One— comes. Jerusalem will be rebuilt with streets and strong defenses, despite the perilous times.“ After this period of sixty two sets of seven, the Anointed One will be killed, appearing to have accomplished nothing, and a ruler will arise whose armies will destroy the city and the Temple. The end will come with a flood, and war and its miseries are decreed from that time to the very end.The ruler will make a treaty with the people for a period of one set of seven, but after half this time, he will put an end to the sacrifices and offerings. And as a climax to all his terrible deeds, he will set up a sacrilegious object that causes desecration, until the fate decreed for this defiler is finally poured out on him.”

Then the man said,“ Let me go, for the dawn is breaking!” But Jacob said,“ I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

Yes, he wrestled with the angel and won. He wept and pleaded for a blessing from him. There at Bethel he met God face to face, and God spoke to him—

They are the people of Israel, chosen to be God’s adopted children. God revealed his glory to them. He made covenants with them and gave them his law. He gave them the privilege of worshiping him and receiving his wonderful promises.Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are their ancestors, and Christ himself was an Israelite as far as his human nature is concerned. And he is God, the one who rules over everything and is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.Well then, has God failed to fulfill his promise to Israel? No, for not all who are born into the nation of Israel are truly members of God’s people!Being descendants of Abraham doesn’t make them truly Abraham’s children. For the Scriptures say,“ Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted,” though Abraham had other children, too.This means that Abraham’s physical descendants are not necessarily children of God. Only the children of the promise are considered to be Abraham’s children.
