我驗我僕之言、成我使者之謀、命耶路撒冷復有居民、命猶大諸邑重為建築、使其瓦礫瓦礫或作荒蕪之處、復舊如初、

who carries out the words of his servants and fulfills the predictions of his messengers, who says of Jerusalem,‘ It shall be inhabited,’ of the towns of Judah,‘ They shall be rebuilt,’ and of their ruins,‘ I will restore them,’

I make the words of my servants the prophets come true. I carry out what my messengers say will happen.“ I say about Jerusalem,‘ My people will live there again.’ I say about the towns of Judah,‘ They will be rebuilt.’ I say about their broken- down buildings,‘ I will make them like new again.’

But I carry out the predictions of my prophets! By them I say to Jerusalem,‘ People will live here again,’ and to the towns of Judah,‘ You will be rebuilt; I will restore all your ruins!’

“ Foreigners will build up your walls, And their kings will serve you; For in My wrath I struck you, And in My favor I have had compassion on you.

But did My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, not overtake your fathers? Then they repented and said,‘ Just as the Lord of armies planned to do to us in accordance with our ways and our deeds, so He has dealt with us.’ ” ’ ”

And so we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture becomes a matter of someone’s own interpretation,for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

Behold, the former things have come to pass, Now I declare new things; Before they sprout I proclaim them to you.”

“ Afflicted one, storm tossed, and not comforted, Behold, I will set your stones in antimony, And I will lay your foundations with sapphires.Moreover, I will make your battlements of rubies, And your gates of crystal, And your entire wall of precious stones.

For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke of a letter shall pass from the Law, until all is accomplished!

So you are to know and understand that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, until Messiah the Prince, there will be seven weeks and sixty two weeks; it will be built again, with streets and moat, even in times of distress.

The Lord builds up Jerusalem; He gathers the outcasts of Israel.

‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ Are you the one of whom I spoke in former days through My servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied in those days for many years that I would bring you against them?

Now it came about at midnight that the Lord struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of cattle.And Pharaoh got up in the night, he and all his servants and all the Egyptians, and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was no home where there was not someone dead.

And next to him Meshullam the son of Berechiah the son of Meshezabel made repairs. And next to him Zadok the son of Baana also made repairs.Moreover, next to him the Tekoites made repairs, but their nobles did not support the work of their masters.Now Joiada the son of Paseah and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah repaired the Ancient Gate; they laid its beams and installed its doors with its bolts and its bars.Next to them Melatiah the Gibeonite and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon and of Mizpah, also made repairs for the official seat of the governor of the province beyond the Euphrates River.Next to him Uzziel the son of Harhaiah of the goldsmiths made repairs. And next to him Hananiah, one of the perfumers, made repairs, and they restored Jerusalem as far as the Broad Wall.And next to them Rephaiah the son of Hur, the official of half the district of Jerusalem, made repairs.Next to them Jedaiah the son of Harumaph made repairs opposite his house. And next to him Hattush the son of Hashabneiah made repairs.Malchijah the son of Harim and Hasshub the son of Pahath moab repaired another section and the Tower of Furnaces.Next to him Shallum the son of Hallohesh, the official of half the district of Jerusalem, made repairs, he and his daughters.Hanun and the inhabitants of Zanoah repaired the Valley Gate. They built it and installed its doors with its bolts and its bars, and a thousand cubits of the wall to the Dung Gate.And Malchijah the son of Rechab, the official of the district of Beth haccherem repaired the Dung Gate. He built it and installed its doors with its bolts and its bars.Shallum the son of Col hozeh, the official of the district of Mizpah, repaired the Fountain Gate. He built it, made a roof for it, and installed its doors with its bolts and its bars, and the wall of the Pool of Shelah at the king’s garden as far as the steps that descend from the city of David.After him Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, official of half the district of Beth zur, made repairs as far as a point opposite the tombs of David, and as far as the artificial pool and the house of the mighty men.After him the Levites carried out repairs under Rehum the son of Bani. Next to him Hashabiah, the official of half the district of Keilah, carried out repairs for his district.After him their brothers carried out repairs under Bavvai the son of Henadad, official of the other half of the district of Keilah.And next to him Ezer the son of Jeshua, the official of Mizpah, repaired another section in front of the ascent of the armory at the Angle.After him Baruch the son of Zabbai zealously repaired another section, from the Angle to the doorway of the house of Eliashib the high priest.After him Meremoth the son of Uriah the son of Hakkoz repaired another section, from the doorway of Eliashib’s house even as far as the end of his house.And after him the priests, the men of the vicinity, carried out repairs.After them Benjamin and Hasshub carried out repairs in front of their house. After them Azariah the son of Maaseiah, son of Ananiah, carried out repairs beside his house.After him Binnui the son of Henadad repaired another section, from the house of Azariah as far as the Angle and as far as the corner.Palal the son of Uzai made repairs in front of the Angle and the tower projecting from the upper house of the king, which is by the courtyard of the guard. After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh made repairs.Now the temple servants living in Ophel made repairs as far as the front of the Water Gate toward the east and the projecting tower.After them the Tekoites repaired another section in front of the great projecting tower and as far as the wall of Ophel.Above the Horse Gate the priests carried out repairs, each in front of his house.After them Zadok the son of Immer carried out repairs in front of his house. And after him Shemaiah the son of Shecaniah, the keeper of the East Gate, carried out repairs.After him Hananiah the son of Shelemiah, and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, repaired another section. After him Meshullam the son of Berechiah carried out repairs in front of his own quarters.After him Malchijah, one of the goldsmiths, carried out repairs as far as the house of the temple servants and of the merchants, in front of the Inspection Gate and as far as the upper room of the corner.And between the upper room of the corner and the Sheep Gate the goldsmiths and the merchants carried out repairs.

Then he gave a sign on the same day, saying,“ This is the sign which the Lord has spoken:‘ Behold, the altar shall be torn to pieces and the ashes which are on it shall be poured out.’ ”Now when the king heard the statement of the man of God which he cried out against the altar in Bethel, Jeroboam stretched out his hand from the altar, saying,“ Seize him!” But his hand which he had stretched out toward him dried up, and he could not draw it back to himself.The altar also was torn to pieces and the ashes were poured out from the altar, in accordance with the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the Lord.

Then at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet approached and said,“ Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, today let it be known that You are God in Israel and that I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word.Answer me, Lord, answer me, so that this people may know that You, Lord, are God, and that You have turned their heart back.”Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood, and the stones and the dust; and it licked up the water that was in the trench.

I will also restore the fortunes of My people Israel, And they will rebuild the desolated cities and live in them; They will also plant vineyards and drink their wine, And make gardens and eat their fruit.

“ This is what the Lord says:‘ Behold, I will restore the fortunes of the tents of Jacob And have compassion on his dwellings; And the city will be rebuilt on its ruins, And the palace will stand on its rightful place.

People will buy fields for money, sign and seal deeds, and call in witnesses in the land of Benjamin, in the areas surrounding Jerusalem, in the cities of Judah, in the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the Negev; for I will restore their fortunes,’ declares the Lord.”

I will build you again and you will be rebuilt, Virgin of Israel! You will take up your tambourines again, And go out to the dances of the revelers.

For you will spread out to the right and to the left. And your descendants will possess nations And will resettle the desolate cities.

And I will multiply people on you, all the house of Israel, all of it; and the cities will be inhabited and the ruins will be rebuilt.

And I will restore the fortunes of Judah and the fortunes of Israel, and will rebuild them as they were at first.

And he said to him,“ Run, speak to that young man there, saying,‘ Jerusalem will be inhabited as open country because of the multitude of people and cattle within it.

Then they will rebuild the ancient ruins, They will raise up the former devastations; And they will repair the ruined cities, The desolations of many generations.

And they said to me,“ The remnant there in the province who survived the captivity are in great distress and disgrace, and the wall of Jerusalem is broken down and its gates have been burned with fire.”

Now He said to them,“ These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all the things that are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

For this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:“ Houses and fields and vineyards will again be purchased in this land.” ’

‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ On the day that I cleanse you from all your wrongdoings, I will populate the cities, and the places of ruins will be rebuilt.The desolated land will be cultivated instead of being a desolation in the sight of everyone who passes by.And they will say,‘ This desolated land has become like the Garden of Eden; and the waste, desolated and ruined cities are fortified and inhabited.’Then the nations around you that are left will know that I, the Lord, have rebuilt the ruined places and planted that which was desolated; I, the Lord, have spoken, and I will do it.”

“ On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot among pieces of wood and a flaming torch among sheaves, so they will consume on the right and on the left all the surrounding peoples, while the inhabitants of Jerusalem again live on their own sites in Jerusalem.

You will arise and have compassion on Zion; For it is time to be gracious to her, For the appointed time has come.Surely Your servants take pleasure in her stones, And feel pity for her dust.So the nations will fear the name of the Lord, And all the kings of the earth, Your glory.For the Lord has built up Zion; He has appeared in His glory.

For David says of Him,‘ I saw the Lord continually before me, Because He is at my right hand, so that I will not be shaken.Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue was overjoyed; Moreover my flesh also will live in hope;For You will not abandon my soul to Hades, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of gladness with Your presence.’

“ Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord,“ when the city will be rebuilt for the Lord from the Tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate.The measuring line will go out farther straight ahead, to the hill Gareb; then it will turn to Goah.And the entire valley of the dead bodies and of the ashes, and all the fields as far as the brook Kidron to the corner of the Horse Gate toward the east, shall be holy to the Lord; it will not be uprooted or overthrown ever again.”

But all this has taken place so that the Scriptures of the prophets will be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left Him and fled.

Now the priests and the Levites, some of the people, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants lived in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.

Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins; You will raise up the age old foundations; And you will be called the repairer of the breach, The restorer of the streets in which to dwell.

And I said to the king,“ May the king live forever. Why should my face not be sad when the city, the site of my fathers’ tombs, is desolate and its gates have been consumed by fire?”

Then Moses said,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ About midnight I am going out into the midst of Egypt,and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of the Pharaoh who sits on his throne, to the firstborn of the slave girl who is behind the millstones; all the firstborn of the cattle as well.So there shall be a great cry in all the land of Egypt, such as there has not been before and such as shall never be again.

All the land will change into a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem; but Jerusalem will rise and remain on its site from Benjamin’s Gate as far as the place of the First Gate to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king’s wine presses.People will live in it, and there will no longer be a curse, for Jerusalem will live in security.
