彼心昏迷、所望成空、若食燼餘而不悟、不知右手所作、悉屬虛妄。

彼如以灰為食、中心昏昧、入於迷途、不知自救、不自曰、我右手所作、悉屬虛妄、

Such a person feeds on ashes; a deluded heart misleads him; he cannot save himself, or say,“ Is not this thing in my right hand a lie?”

That’s as foolish as eating ashes! The mind of someone like that has led him astray. He can’t save himself. He can’t bring himself to say,“ This thing I’m holding in my right hand isn’t really a god at all.”

He feeds on ashes; a deluded heart has led him astray, and he cannot deliver himself or say,“ Is there not a lie in my right hand?”

The poor, deluded fool feeds on ashes. He trusts something that can’t help him at all. Yet he cannot bring himself to ask,“ Is this idol that I’m holding in my hand a lie?”

He feeds on ashes. His deceived mind has led him astray, and he cannot rescue himself, or say,“ Isn’t there a lie in my right hand?”

My people consult their wooden idol, and their diviner’s wand informs them; For a spirit of infidelity has led them astray, And they have been unfaithful, departing from their God.

And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a depraved mind, to do those things that are not proper,

For they exchanged the truth of God for falsehood, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

Ephraim feeds on wind, And pursues the east wind continually; He multiplies lies and violence. Moreover, he makes a covenant with Assyria, And oil is brought to Egypt.

Offending and denying the Lord, And turning away from our God, Speaking oppression and revolt, Conceiving and uttering lying words from the heart.

And he deceives those who live on the earth because of the signs which it was given him to perform in the presence of the beast, telling those who live on the earth to make an image to the beast who* had the wound of the sword and has come to life.

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, being understood by what has been made, so that they are without excuse.For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their reasonings, and their senseless hearts were darkened.Claiming to be wise, they became fools,

But evil people and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

And he longed to have his fill of the carob pods that the pigs were eating, and no one was giving him anything.

that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and false signs and wonders,and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not accept the love of the truth so as to be saved.For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false,

“ What benefit is a carved image when its maker has carved it, Or a cast metal image, a teacher of falsehood? For its maker trusts in his own handiwork When he fashions speechless idols.

and the light of a lamp will never shine in you again; and the voice of the groom and bride will never be heard in you again; for your merchants were the powerful people of the earth, because all the nations were deceived by your witchcraft.

The mind of the intelligent seeks knowledge, But the mouth of fools feeds on foolishness.

by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,

“ Should a wise man answer with windy knowledge, And fill himself with the east wind?

For your hands are defiled with blood, And your fingers with wrongdoing; Your lips have spoken deceit, Your tongue mutters wickedness.No one sues righteously and no one pleads honestly. They trust in confusion and speak lies; They conceive trouble and give birth to disaster.

If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

Because you have said,“ We have made a covenant with death, And with Sheol we have made a pact. The gushing flood will not reach us when it passes by, Because we have made falsehood our refuge and we have concealed ourselves with deception.”Therefore this is what the Lord God says:“ Behold, I am laying a stone in Zion, a tested stone, A precious cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. The one who believes in it will not be disturbed.I will make justice the measuring line And righteousness the level; Then hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, And the waters will overflow the secret place.

Lord, my strength and my stronghold, And my refuge in the day of distress, To You the nations will come From the ends of the earth and say,“ Our fathers have inherited nothing but falsehood, Futility, and things of no benefit.”

And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

And the Lord said,‘ Who will entice Ahab to go up and fall at Ramoth gilead?’ And one spirit said this, while another said that.Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, and said,‘ I will entice him.’And the Lord said to him,‘ How?’ And he said,‘ I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all his prophets.’ Then He said,‘ You shall entice him, and you will also prevail. Go and do so.’Now then, behold, the Lord has put a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all these prophets of yours; and the Lord has declared disaster against you.”

and he threw him into the abyss and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time.
