它們有口，卻不能說話；有眼，卻不能看；有耳，卻不能聽；有鼻，卻不能聞；有手，卻不能摸；有腳，卻不能行；也不能用喉嚨發聲。

他對我說：“人子啊！以色列家的眾長老各在自己偶像的房間裡暗中所行的，你看見了嗎？他們說：‘耶和華看不見我們，耶和華已經離開這地了。’”

現在你既然渴想你的父家，一定要回去，為甚麼又偷我的神像呢？”

他們用必朽壞的人、飛禽、走獸和昆蟲的形象，取代了永不朽壞的神的榮耀。

當時拉班剪羊毛去了，拉結就偷了他父親的神像。

“不可為自己做偶像，也不可做天上、地下和地底下水中各物的形象。不可跪拜它們，也不可事奉它們，因為我耶和華你們的神是忌邪的神；恨惡我的，我必追討他們的罪，從父親到兒子，直到三四代。

在那裡你們必事奉人手所做的神，就是用木頭石頭做成的，不能看、不能聽、不能吃、不能聞的神。

木匠堅固金匠，用鎚打光金屬的，鼓勵打砧的；論銲工說：“銲得好！”又用釘子釘穩了。使偶像不致動搖。

米迦回答：“你們把我所做的神像和我的祭司都帶走了，我還有甚麼呢？你們怎麼還問我：‘你作甚麼’呢？”

雅各就對他的家人，和所有與他在一起的人說：“你們要除去你們中間外族人的神像，你們要潔淨自己，更換你們的衣服。

我們既然是神的子孫，就不應該以為他的神性是好像人用手藝、心思所雕刻的金銀石頭一樣。

恐怕你們敗壞自己，為自己製造偶像，製造任何神像的形象，無論是男像或是女像，或是地上各種走獸的像，或是飛翔在空中各類有翅膀的雀鳥的像，或是地上各種爬行的動物的像，或是地底下水裡各樣魚類的像。

“‘製造耶和華厭惡的雕像或鑄像，工人手中做的，並且在暗處設立的，那人必受咒詛。’眾民都要應聲說：‘阿們。’

至於你的神像，你在誰身上搜出來，那人就不該活著；你當著我們眾兄弟面前查一查，如果在我這裡有甚麼東西是你的，你只管拿去。”原來雅各不知拉結偷了神像。
