它們有口不能言，有眼不能看，有耳不能聽，有鼻不能聞，有手不能摸，有腳不能走，有喉嚨也不能發聲。

祂又對我說：「人子啊，你看見以色列的長老在自己藏神像的房間裡暗中所做的了嗎？他們說，『耶和華看不見我們，祂已經拋棄了這片土地。』」

你思家心切，一定要走，但你為什麼要偷走我的神像呢？」

以必朽的人、飛禽、走獸和爬蟲的形像來取代永恆上帝的榮耀。

那時拉班正在外面剪羊毛，拉結偷了父親的家庭神像。

「不可為自己雕刻神像，不可仿照任何飛禽走獸或水族的樣子造神像，不可跪拜它們，也不可供奉它們，因為我——你的上帝耶和華痛恨不貞，我必追討背棄我之人的罪，從父到子直到三四代。

你們必在那裡供奉人用木石造的不會看、不會聽、不會吃、不會聞的神像。

工匠鼓勵銀匠，打磨的勉勵打砧的，說，『打得好！』他們用釘子把偶像釘牢，免得搖晃。

米迦說：「你們帶走了我的神像和祭司，把我洗劫一空，還問我想做什麽！」

於是，雅各吩咐家人和所有的隨從：「你們要除掉你們當中的外族神像，沐浴更衣，潔淨自己。

我們既然是上帝的子孫，就不該認為上帝是人憑手藝和想象用金、銀、石頭所雕刻的樣子。

所以不可墮落，去為自己製造任何形狀的神像——男人、女人、飛禽走獸、爬蟲或魚類。

『凡雕刻或鑄造耶和華所憎惡的神像，並偷偷供奉的必受咒詛！』全體民眾要回答說，『阿們！』

至於你的神像，你在誰身上搜出來，誰就是該死的。你可以當著眾弟兄的面察看，如果在我這裡有什麼物件是你的，你只管拿走。」雅各不知道拉結偷走了神像。
