The Mighty One, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.

I declared them to you from of old, before they came to pass I announced them to you, lest you should say,‘ My idol did them, my carved image and my metal image commanded them.’“ You have heard; now see all this; and will you not declare it? From this time forth I announce to you new things, hidden things that you have not known.

And Elijah came near to all the people and said,“ How long will you go limping between two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” And the people did not answer him a word.Then Elijah said to the people,“ I, even I only, am left a prophet of the Lord, but Baal’s prophets are 450 men.Let two bulls be given to us, and let them choose one bull for themselves and cut it in pieces and lay it on the wood, but put no fire to it. And I will prepare the other bull and lay it on the wood and put no fire to it.And you call upon the name of your god, and I will call upon the name of the Lord, and the God who answers by fire, he is God.” And all the people answered,“ It is well spoken.”

Hasten and come, all you surrounding nations, and gather yourselves there. Bring down your warriors, O Lord.

Hear this, all peoples! Give ear, all inhabitants of the world,both low and high, rich and poor together!

And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”Then the people answered,“ Far be it from us that we should forsake the Lord to serve other gods,for it is the Lord our God who brought us and our fathers up from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, and who did those great signs in our sight and preserved us in all the way that we went, and among all the peoples through whom we passed.And the Lord drove out before us all the peoples, the Amorites who lived in the land. Therefore we also will serve the Lord, for he is our God.”But Joshua said to the people,“ You are not able to serve the Lord, for he is a holy God. He is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions or your sins.If you forsake the Lord and serve foreign gods, then he will turn and do you harm and consume you, after having done you good.”And the people said to Joshua,“ No, but we will serve the Lord.”Then Joshua said to the people,“ You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen the Lord, to serve him.” And they said,“ We are witnesses.”He said,“ Then put away the foreign gods that are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord, the God of Israel.”And the people said to Joshua,“ The Lord our God we will serve, and his voice we will obey.”

And at the time of the offering of the oblation, Elijah the prophet came near and said,“ O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word.Answer me, O Lord, answer me, that this people may know that you, O Lord, are God, and that you have turned their hearts back.”Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said,“ The Lord, he is God; the Lord, he is God.”

“ Assemble, all of you, and listen! Who among them has declared these things? The Lord loves him; he shall perform his purpose on Babylon, and his arm shall be against the Chaldeans.

Who declared it of old? Was it not I, the Lord? And there is no other god besides me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none besides me.
