You have not bought any fragrant calamus for me, or lavished on me the fat of your sacrifices. But you have burdened me with your sins and wearied me with your offenses.

But you have not bought any sweet- smelling cane for me. You have not given me the fattest parts of your animal sacrifices. Instead, you have loaded me down with your sins. You have made me tired with the wrong things you have done.

To what purpose cometh there to me frankincense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt- offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices pleasing unto me.

And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David: Is it a small thing for you to weary men, that ye will weary my God also?

And those of you that escape shall remember me among the nations whither they shall be carried captive, how that I have been broken with their lewd heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which play the harlot after their idols: and they shall loathe themselves in their own sight for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations.

And the priest shall burn them upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire, for a sweet savor; all the fat is Jehovah’s.

But cursed be the deceiver, who hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the Lord a blemished thing; for I am a great King, saith Jehovah of hosts, and my name is terrible among the Gentiles.

Because Jehovah hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously, though she is thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.And did he not make one, although he had the residue of the Spirit? And wherefore one? He sought a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.For I hate putting away, saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, and him that covereth his garment with violence, saith Jehovah of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.Ye have wearied Jehovah with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? In that ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of Jehovah, and he delighteth in them; or where is the God of justice?

I will take no bullock out of thy house, Nor he- goats out of thy folds.For every beast of the forest is mine, And the cattle upon a thousand hills.I know all the birds of the mountains; And the wild beasts of the field are mine.If I were hungry, I would not tell thee; For the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.Will I eat the flesh of bulls, Or drink the blood of goats?

And Jehovah said unto Moses, Take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum; sweet spices with pure frankincense: of each shall there be a like weight;

And Aaron shall burn thereon incense of sweet spices: every morning, when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn it.

But they rebelled, and grieved his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and himself fought against them.

Behold, I will press you in your place, as a cart presseth that is full of sheaves.

And all the fat thereof shall he take away, as the fat is taken away from off the sacrifice of peace- offerings; and the priest shall burn it upon the altar for a sweet savor unto Jehovah; and the priest shall make atonement for him, and he shall be forgiven.

Take thou also unto thee the chief spices: of flowing myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty,and of cassia five hundred, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of olive oil a hin.

Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast raged against me in all these things; therefore, behold, I also will bring thy way upon thy head, saith the Lord Jehovah: and thou shalt not commit this lewdness with all thine abominations.
