“ Yet you have not called on me, Jacob, you have not wearied yourselves for me, Israel.

“ Family of Jacob, you have not prayed to me as you should. People of Israel, you have not worn yourselves out for me.

“ Yet you did not call upon me, O Jacob; but you have been weary of me, O Israel!

“ But, dear family of Jacob, you refuse to ask for my help. You have grown tired of me, O Israel!

“ But, Jacob, you have not called on me, because, Israel, you have become weary of me.

“ Yet you have not called on Me, Jacob; But you have become weary of Me, Israel.

“ But you have not called upon Me, O Jacob; And you have been weary of Me, O Israel.

“ But Jacob, you have not called on Me, because, Israel, you have become weary of Me.

But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.

“ But you did not call for me, O Jacob; you did not long for me, O Israel.

Yet you have not called on me, Jacob; but you have been weary of me, Israel.

O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee? testify against me.

Ye have said, It is vain to serve God; and what profit is it that we have kept his charge, and that we have walked mournfully before Jehovah of hosts?

Ye say also, Behold, what a weariness is it! and ye have snuffed at it, saith Jehovah of hosts; and ye have brought that which was taken by violence, and the lame, and the sick; thus ye bring the offering: should I accept this at your hand? saith Jehovah.

Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and covet, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war; ye have not, because ye ask not.Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may spend it in your pleasures.

Pour out thy wrath upon the nations that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name; for they have devoured Jacob, yea, they have devoured him and consumed him, and have laid waste his habitation.

And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee; for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us by means of our iniquities.

Will God hear his cry, When trouble cometh upon him?Will he delight himself in the Almighty, And call upon God at all times?

And they say unto God, Depart from us; For we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? And what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?

Pour out thy wrath upon the nations that know thee not, And upon the kingdoms that call not upon thy name.

O Israel, return unto Jehovah thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.Take with you words, and return unto Jehovah: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and accept that which is good: so will we render as bullocks the offering of our lips.

Hath a nation changed its gods, which yet are no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith Jehovah.For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And call not upon Jehovah?

Thus saith Jehovah, What unrighteousness have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?

O generation, see ye the word of Jehovah. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? or a land of thick darkness? wherefore say my people, We are broken loose; we will come no more unto thee?Can a virgin forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.

Upon this many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.Jesus said therefore unto the twelve, Would ye also go away?Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.And we have believed and know that thou art the Holy One of God.

As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet have we not entreated the favor of Jehovah our God, that we should turn from our iniquities, and have discernment in thy truth.

And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: yet they have not returned unto Jehovah their God, nor sought him, for all this.And Ephraim is like a silly dove, without understanding: they call unto Egypt, they go to Assyria.When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the birds of the heavens; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.Woe unto them! for they have wandered from me; destruction unto them! for they have trespassed against me: though I would redeem them, yet they have spoken lies against me.And they have not cried unto me with their heart, but they howl upon their beds: they assemble themselves for grain and new wine; they rebel against me.
