Who gave Jacob for plunder, and Israel to the robbers? Was it not the Lord, He against whom we have sinned? For they would not walk in His ways, Nor were they obedient to His law.

誰使雅各被掠、付以色列於盜非耶和華乎、我儕獲罪於彼、不行其途、不遵其法、

雅各家以色列族為人攘奪、為人俘囚、誰使之然、非我耶和華乎、彼蹈罪愆、不從我道、不遵我法、

誰使雅各遭攘奪、誰付以色列於刼掠者、豈非主乎、因我儕獲罪於主、不欲行主道、不聽從主之律法、

Who handed Jacob over to become loot, and Israel to the plunderers? Was it not the Lord, against whom we have sinned? For they would not follow his ways; they did not obey his law.

Who allowed you to be carried off like stolen goods? Who handed you over to robbers? The Lord did it! We have sinned against him. Israel, you wouldn’t follow his ways. You didn’t obey his law.

Who gave up Jacob to the looter, and Israel to the plunderers? Was it not the Lord, against whom we have sinned, in whose ways they would not walk, and whose law they would not obey?

Who allowed Israel to be robbed and hurt? It was the Lord, against whom we sinned, for the people would not walk in his path, nor would they obey his law.

Who gave Jacob to the robber, and Israel to the plunderers? Was it not the LORD? Have we not sinned against him? They were not willing to walk in his ways, and they would not listen to his instruction.

Who gave Jacob up for spoils, and Israel to plunderers? Was it not the Lord, against whom we have sinned, And in whose ways they were not willing to walk, And whose Law they did not obey?

Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not Jehovah? he against whom we have sinned, and in whose ways they would not walk, neither were they obedient unto his law.

Who gave Jacob as plunder, and Israel to the robbers? Didn’t Yahweh, he against whom we have sinned? For they would not walk in his ways, and they disobeyed his law.

Thus says the Lord:“ Where is the certificate of your mother’s divorce, Whom I have put away? Or which of My creditors is it to whom I have sold you? For your iniquities you have sold yourselves, And for your transgressions your mother has been put away.Why, when I came, was there no man? Why, when I called, was there none to answer? Is My hand shortened at all that it cannot redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? Indeed with My rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness; Their fish stink because there is no water, And die of thirst.

If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid? If there is calamity in a city, will not the Lord have done it?

And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel. So He delivered them into the hands of plunderers who despoiled them; and He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, so that they could no longer stand before their enemies.

“ Nevertheless they were disobedient And rebelled against You, Cast Your law behind their backs And killed Your prophets, who testified against them To turn them to Yourself; And they worked great provocations.Therefore You delivered them into the hand of their enemies, Who oppressed them; And in the time of their trouble, When they cried to You, You heard from heaven; And according to Your abundant mercies You gave them deliverers who saved them From the hand of their enemies.

Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear.But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.

“ Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts:‘ Because you have not heard My words,behold, I will send and take all the families of the north,’ says the Lord,‘ and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant, and will bring them against this land, against its inhabitants, and against these nations all around, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

“ Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger And the staff in whose hand is My indignation.I will send him against an ungodly nation, And against the people of My wrath I will give him charge, To seize the spoil, to take the prey, And to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

How could one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight, Unless their Rock had sold them, And the Lord had surrendered them?

Therefore He brought against them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or virgin, on the aged or the weak; He gave them all into his hand.

But when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

Therefore the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and He sold them into the hand of Cushan-Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia; and the children of Israel served Cushan-Rishathaim eight years.

Behold, I will bring a nation against you from afar, O house of Israel,” says the Lord.“ It is a mighty nation, It is an ancient nation, A nation whose language you do not know, Nor can you understand what they say.

For thus says the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel:“ In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” But you would not,

So nation was destroyed by nation, and city by city, for God troubled them with every adversity.

But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit; So He turned Himself against them as an enemy, And He fought against them.

“ The Lord is righteous, For I rebelled against His commandment. Hear now, all peoples, And behold my sorrow; My virgins and my young men Have gone into captivity.

So the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel; and He sold them into the hands of the Philistines and into the hands of the people of Ammon.

Therefore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against His people, So that He abhorred His own inheritance.And He gave them into the hand of the Gentiles, And those who hated them ruled over them.Their enemies also oppressed them, And they were brought into subjection under their hand.

I was angry with My people; I have profaned My inheritance, And given them into your hand. You showed them no mercy; On the elderly you laid your yoke very heavily.

The Lord will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose language you will not understand,

I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the Lord, do all these things.’

“ The yoke of my transgressions was bound; They were woven together by His hands, And thrust upon my neck. He made my strength fail; The Lord delivered me into the hands of those whom I am not able to withstand.
