“ Israel, listen to me! You can hear, but you do not understand. Look to me! You can see, but you do not know what you are seeing.

In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, And the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.

Then, looking up to heaven, He sighed, and said to him,“ Ephphatha,” that is,“ Be opened.”Immediately his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plainly.Then He commanded them that they should tell no one; but the more He commanded them, the more widely they proclaimed it.And they were astonished beyond measure, saying,“ He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”

Jesus answered and said to them,“ Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them.

Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

The hearing ear and the seeing eye, The Lord has made them both.

Bring out the blind people who have eyes, And the deaf who have ears.

So the Lord said to him,“ Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord?

Because you say,‘ I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’— and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked—I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.
