“ You, my servant Israel, Jacob whom I have chosen, offspring of Abraham my friend,

可是你，以色列啊，我的僕人！雅各啊，我所揀選的，我朋友亞伯拉罕的後裔！

我僕以色列、我所選之雅各、我友亞伯拉罕之裔歟、

昔我眷顧亞伯拉罕、簡其後裔、以色列族雅各家、為我臣僕。

惟爾以色列我之僕、我所選之雅各、我所眷愛亞伯拉罕之苗裔、

“ But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend,

The Lord says,“ People of Israel, you are my servants. Family of Jacob, I have chosen you. You are the children of my friend Abraham.

But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, the offspring of Abraham, my friend;

“ But as for you, Israel my servant, Jacob my chosen one, descended from Abraham my friend,

But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, descendant of Abraham, my friend—

“ But you, Israel, My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, Descendant of Abraham My friend,

“ But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, The descendants of Abraham My friend.

But thou, Israel, my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend,

But you, Israel, My servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, descendant of Abraham, My friend—

But thou, Israel,[ art] my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

“ But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the offspring of Abraham my friend,

And the scripture was fulfilled that says,“ Now Abraham believed God and it was counted to him for righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend.

For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. He has chosen you to be his people, prized above all others on the face of the earth.

Our God, you drove out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and gave it as a permanent possession to the descendants of your friend Abraham.

Remember these things, O Jacob, O Israel, for you are my servant. I formed you to be my servant; O Israel, I will not forget you!

So this is what the LORD, the one who delivered Abraham, says to the family of Jacob:“ Jacob will no longer be ashamed; their faces will no longer show their embarrassment.

For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman.But one, the son by the slave woman, was born by natural descent, while the other, the son by the free woman, was born through the promise.These things may be treated as an allegory, for these women represent two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai bearing children for slavery; this is Hagar.Now Hagar represents Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children.But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.For it is written:“ Rejoice, O barren woman who does not bear children; break forth and shout, you who have no birth pains, because the children of the desolate woman are more numerous than those of the woman who has a husband.”But you, brothers and sisters, are children of the promise like Isaac.But just as at that time the one born by natural descent persecuted the one born according to the Spirit, so it is now.But what does the scripture say?“ Throw out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman will not share the inheritance with the son” of the free woman.Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman but of the free woman.

“ Now, listen, Jacob my servant, Israel whom I have chosen!”This is what the LORD, the one who made you, says– the one who formed you in the womb and helps you:“ Don’t be afraid, my servant Jacob, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen!

How blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen to be his special possession.

And now, if you will diligently listen to me and keep my covenant, then you will be my special possession out of all the nations, for all the earth is mine,and you will be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you will speak to the Israelites.”

Look at Abraham, your father, and Sarah, who gave you birth. When I summoned him, he was a lone individual, but I blessed him and gave him numerous descendants.

You are my friends if you do what I command you.I no longer call you slaves, because the slave does not understand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because I have revealed to you everything I heard from my Father.

“ We are descendants of Abraham,” they replied,“ and have never been anyone’s slaves! How can you say,‘ You will become free’?”Jesus answered them,“ I tell you the solemn truth, everyone who practices sin is a slave of sin.The slave does not remain in the family forever, but the son remains forever.So if the son sets you free, you will be really free.I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. But you want to kill me, because my teaching makes no progress among you.I am telling you the things I have seen while with the Father; as for you, practice the things you have heard from the Father!”They answered him,“ Abraham is our father!” Jesus replied,“ If you are Abraham’s children, you would be doing the deeds of Abraham.But now you are trying to kill me, a man who has told you the truth I heard from God. Abraham did not do this!You people are doing the deeds of your father.” Then they said to Jesus,“ We were not born as a result of immorality! We have only one Father, God himself.”Jesus replied,“ If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come from God and am now here. I have not come on my own initiative, but he sent me.Why don’t you understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot accept my teaching.You people are from your father the devil, and you want to do what your father desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not uphold the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of lies.

and don’t think you can say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that God can raise up children for Abraham from these stones!

Now, this is what the LORD says, the one who created you, O Jacob, and formed you, O Israel:“ Don’t be afraid, for I will protect you. I call you by name, you are mine.

Indeed, the LORD has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel to be his special possession.

“ You have surely noticed what these people are saying, haven’t you? They are saying,‘ The LORD has rejected the two families of Israel and Judah that he chose.’ So they have little regard that my people will ever again be a nation.

For you are our father, though Abraham does not know us and Israel does not recognize us. You, LORD, are our father; you have been called our protector from ancient times.

Yes, he remembered the sacred promise he made to Abraham his servant.When he led his people out, they rejoiced; his chosen ones shouted with joy.He handed the territory of nations over to them, and they took possession of what other peoples had produced,so that they might keep his commands and obey his laws. Praise the LORD!

However, only to your ancestors did he show his loving favor, and he chose you, their descendants, from all peoples– as is apparent today.

He said to me,“ You are my servant, Israel, through whom I will reveal my splendor.”

Listen to me, O Jacob, Israel, whom I summoned! I am the one; I am present at the very beginning and at the very end.

For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. He has chosen you to be his people, prized above all others on the face of the earth.It is not because you were more numerous than all the other peoples that the LORD favored and chose you– for in fact you were the least numerous of all peoples.Rather it is because of his love for you and his faithfulness to the promise he solemnly vowed to your ancestors that the LORD brought you out with great power, redeeming you from the place of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

Since they are my servants whom I brought out from the land of Egypt, they must not be sold in a slave sale.

O children of Abraham, God’s servant, you descendants of Jacob, God’s chosen ones!

who are Israelites. To them belong the adoption as sons, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the temple worship, and the promises.To them belong the patriarchs, and from them, by human descent, came the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever! Amen.It is not as though the word of God had failed. For not all those who are descended from Israel are truly Israel,nor are all the children Abraham’s true descendants; rather“ through Isaac will your descendants be counted.”This means it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God; rather, the children of promise are counted as descendants.

Why then was the law given? It was added because of transgressions, until the arrival of the descendant to whom the promise had been made. It was administered through angels by an intermediary.

And he is also the father of the circumcised, who are not only circumcised, but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham possessed when he was still uncircumcised.For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would inherit the world was not fulfilled through the law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.
