The metalworker encourages the goldsmith, and the one who smooths with the hammer spurs on the one who strikes the anvil. One says of the welding,“ It is good.” The other nails down the idol so it will not topple.

One skilled worker makes a statue of a god. Another covers it with gold. The first worker says to the second,“ You have done a good job.” Another worker smooths out the metal with a hammer. Still another gives the statue its final shape. The one who hammers says to the one who shapes,“ You have done a good job.” Then they nail the statue down so it won’t fall over.

The craftsman strengthens the goldsmith, and he who smooths with the hammer him who strikes the anvil, saying of the soldering,“ It is good”; and they strengthen it with nails so that it cannot be moved.

The carver encourages the goldsmith, and the molder helps at the anvil.“ Good,” they say.“ It’s coming along fine.” Carefully they join the parts together, then fasten the thing in place so it won’t fall over.

至於偶像，匠人鑄造它，銀匠用金子包裹它，又為它鑄造銀鏈。沒有能力捐獻的人，就挑選不易朽壞的木頭，為自己尋找巧匠，豎立不會倒的偶像。

那窺探這地的五個人上前去，進入裏面，拿走雕刻的像、以弗得、家中的神像，以及鑄成的像。祭司和帶兵器的六百人一同站在門口。當五個人進入米迦的家，拿走雕刻的像、以弗得、家中的神像，以及鑄成的像，祭司對他們說：「你們做甚麼呢？」

錘煉的銀片是從他施來的，金子則從烏法而來，都是匠人和銀匠的手工；又有藍色和紫色的衣服，全都是巧匠的作品。

萬民的習俗是虛空的；偶像不過是從樹林中砍來的木頭，是匠人用斧頭做成的手工。人用金銀妝飾它，用釘子和錘子釘穩，使它不動搖。偶像好像瓜田裏的稻草人，不能說話，不能行走，必須有人抬着。不要怕它們，因它們不能降禍，也無力降福。」

他們從錢囊中倒出金子，用天平秤出銀子，雇銀匠造成神像，他們又俯伏，又叩拜。他們抬起神像，扛在肩上，安置在定處，使它站立，不離本位；人呼求它，它卻不回答，也無法救人脫離災難。

米迦說：「你們把我所造的神像，還有祭司，都帶走了，我還有甚麼呢？你怎麼還對我說『你在做甚麼』呢？」

鐵匠用工具在火炭上工作，用鎚打出形狀，用他有力的膀臂來錘。他因飢餓而無力氣；因未喝水而疲倦。木匠拉線，用筆劃出樣子，用鉋子鉋成形狀，又用圓規劃了模樣。他仿照人的體態，做出美妙的人形，放在廟裏。他砍伐香柏樹，又取杉樹和橡樹，在樹林中讓它茁壯；或栽種松樹，得雨水滋潤長大。這樹，人可用以生火；他拿一些來取暖，又搧火烤餅，而且做神像供跪拜，做雕刻的偶像向它叩拜。

尼布甲尼撒王造了一個金像，高六十肘，寬六肘，立在巴比倫省的杜拉平原。尼布甲尼撒王差人將總督、欽差、省長、參謀、財務、法官、地方官和各省的官員都召了來，為尼布甲尼撒王所立的像行開光禮。於是總督、欽差、省長、參謀、財務、法官、地方官和各省的官員都聚集，站在尼布甲尼撒所立的像前，要為尼布甲尼撒王所立的像行開光禮。那時傳令的大聲呼叫說：「各方、各國、各族的人哪，有命令傳給你們：你們一聽見角、號、琴、瑟、三角琴、鼓和各樣樂器的聲音，就當俯伏，拜尼布甲尼撒王所立的金像。凡不俯伏下拜的，必立刻扔在烈火的窰中。」因此百姓一聽見角、號、琴、瑟、三角琴和各樣樂器的聲音，各方、各國、各族的人就都俯伏，拜尼布甲尼撒王所立的金像。
