I look but there is no one— no one among the gods to give counsel, no one to give answer when I ask them.

誰曾指揮永恆主的靈，或做過他的謀士去指教他呢？他跟誰商議，而誰給他明達；誰將對的路徑教導他，誰教訓他知識，將明哲之道路指教他呢？

他見沒有一個人，沒有一個插進來解救的，就很詫異，他自己的膀臂就給他施拯救，他自己的義氣就扶持他。

於是那些學術士、那些用法術的、和迦勒底博學的人、跟占卜的、都進了來；我將那夢告訴了他們，他們卻不能把夢的解析告訴我。到末了、但以理進來到我面前——照我的神的名字、但以理名叫伯提沙撒；他裏頭有聖神明之靈——我將夢告訴他說：

我來的時候、為甚麼沒有人等候呢？我呼喚時、為甚麼沒有人回答呢？難道我手臂太短、不能贖救麼？或是說：我沒有援救之力麼？看哪，我以叱責使海乾涸；我使江河變為曠野；其中的魚因無水而發臭，乾渴而死。

迦勒底博學的人在王面前回答說：『世界上沒有人能將王所問的事說出來的，因為沒有王、多麼大、多麼有權力、曾經向任何學術士、或用法術的、或迦勒底博學的人、問過這樣事的。王所問的事很難答；除了不居於血肉之軀的神明、沒有別的能在王面前說出來的。』
