I look but there is no one— no one among the gods to give counsel, no one to give answer when I ask them.

I look, but there is no one among the gods that can give me advice. None of them can answer when I ask them the simplest question.

But when I look, there is no one; among these there is no counselor who, when I ask, gives an answer.

Not one of your idols told you this. Not one gave any answer when I asked.

那時，王所有的智慧人都來了，卻不能讀出這文字，也不能把它的釋義顯明給王。

誰曾測度耶和華的靈，曾作他的謀士指教他呢？他曾與誰商議，又是誰曾使他有悟性呢？誰曾教導他公正的路，又教導他知識，指示他聰慧之道呢？

他看見沒有一人行善，他震驚沒有一人代求；於是他自己的膀臂為他帶來了拯救，他自己的公義扶助了他。

於是術士、占卜者、迦勒底人和算命者都來了；我就向他們說了這夢，他們卻不能把這夢的釋義顯明給我。最後，那照著我神的名稱為伯提沙撒的但以理，來到我面前，他裡面有聖潔之神的靈；我就向他說了這夢：

為什麼我來的時候，沒有人在呢？為什麼我呼喚的時候，沒有人回應呢？難道我的手臂太短不能救贖嗎？難道我沒有能力解救嗎？看哪！我發出斥責，使海洋乾涸，使河流成為曠野；其中的魚因無水而發臭，因乾渴而死去。

那些迦勒底人在王面前回應說：「地上沒有人能講明王所要求的事；事實上，沒有任何一個偉大、有權勢的君王，向任何一個術士、占卜者或迦勒底人問過這樣的事。王所問的事，是件難事，除了不與屬肉體的人住在一起的神明，沒有誰能在王面前講明它。」
