And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood who will be born to you, will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”

‘ Some of the members of your family line will be taken away. They will be your own flesh and blood. They will include the children who will be born into your family line. And they will serve the king of Babylon in his palace.’ ”

And some of your own sons, who will come from you, whom you will father, shall be taken away, and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”

‘ Some of your very own sons will be taken away into exile. They will become eunuchs who will serve in the palace of Babylon’s king.’”

‘ Some of your descendants— who come from you, whom you father— will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’”

猶大王約雅敬在位第三年，巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒來到耶路撒冷，將城圍困。主將猶大王約雅敬和上帝殿中的一些器皿交在他的手中。他就把他們帶到示拿地他神明的廟裏，將器皿收入他神明的庫房中。王吩咐太監長亞施毗拿，從以色列人的王室後裔和貴族中帶進幾個人來，就是沒有殘疾、相貌俊美、通達各樣學問、知識聰明俱備、足能在王宮侍立的少年，要教他們迦勒底的文字和語言。王從自己所用的膳和所飲的酒中，派給他們每日的分量，養育他們三年，好叫他們期滿以後侍立在王面前。他們中間有猶大人但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利和亞撒利雅。太監長給他們另外起名，稱但以理為伯提沙撒，稱哈拿尼雅為沙得拉，稱米沙利為米煞，稱亞撒利雅為亞伯尼歌。

猶大王約雅斤和他母親、臣僕、王子、官員一同出來，向巴比倫王投降。巴比倫王俘擄了他，那時是巴比倫王第八年。

過了一年，尼布甲尼撒王差遣人將約雅斤和耶和華殿裏寶貴的器皿帶到巴比倫，然後立約雅斤的叔父西底家作猶大和耶路撒冷的王。

迦勒底人就拿住王，帶他到利比拉的巴比倫王那裏；他們就判他的罪。他們在西底家眼前殺了他的兒女，挖了西底家的眼睛，用銅鏈鎖着他，帶到巴比倫去。

「你要對那悖逆之家說：你們不知道這些事是甚麼意思嗎？你要這樣說，看哪，巴比倫王曾到耶路撒冷，把其中的君王和官長帶到巴比倫去，又從以色列王室後裔中選取一人，與他立約，令他發誓，又擄走國中有勢力的人，使王國衰弱，不再強盛，只能靠守盟約方得生存。他卻背叛巴比倫王，差派使者前往埃及，要求埃及人給他馬匹和許多人。他豈能亨通呢？這樣做的人豈能逃脫呢？他背了約豈能逃脫呢？主耶和華說：我指着我的永生起誓，他定要死在巴比倫，就是巴比倫王所在之處；因為巴比倫王立他為王，他竟輕看向王所起的誓，背棄王與他所立的約。當敵人建土堆，築堡壘，要殲滅許多人時，法老雖有強大軍隊和大批人馬，在戰場上還是不能幫助他。他輕看誓言，背棄盟約，看哪，雖已投降，卻又做這一切的事，他必不能逃脫。所以主耶和華如此說：我指着我的永生起誓，他既輕看我的誓言，背棄我的約，我必使這罪歸到他頭上。我要把我的網撒在他身上，他就被我的羅網纏住。我要帶他到巴比倫，在那裏因他背叛我的罪懲罰他。

凡脫離刀劍的倖存者，迦勒底王都擄到巴比倫去，作他和他子孫的僕婢，直到波斯國興起。

他把約雅斤和他的母親、后妃、官員，以及這地的貴族，都從耶路撒冷擄到巴比倫去了，

並且挖了西底家的眼睛，用銅鏈鎖住他，要帶到巴比倫去。

所以耶和華使亞述王的將領來攻擊他們，用手銬銬住瑪拿西，用銅鏈鎖住他，把他帶到巴比倫去。
