Lord, by such things people live; and my spirit finds life in them too. You restored me to health and let me live.

Lord, people find the will to live because you keep your promises. And my spirit also finds life in your promises. You brought me back to health. You let me live.

O Lord, by these things men live, and in all these is the life of my spirit. Oh restore me to health and make me live!

Lord, your discipline is good, for it leads to life and health. You restore my health and allow me to live!

他磨煉你，任你飢餓，將你和你列祖所不認識的嗎哪賜給你吃，使你知道，人活着，不是單靠食物，乃是靠耶和華口裏所出的一切話。

「人在床上被疼痛懲治，骨頭不住地掙扎，以致生命厭棄食物，心中厭惡美味。他的肉消瘦，難以看見；先前看不見的骨頭都凸出來。他的性命臨近地府，他的生命挨近滅命者。一千天使中，若有一個作傳話的臨到他，指示人所當行的事，上帝就施恩給他，說：『要救贖他免得下入地府，我已經得了贖價。他的肉要比孩童的肉更嫩；他就返老還童。』他向上帝禱告，上帝就悅納他；他必歡呼朝見上帝的面，因上帝恢復他的義。他在人前歌唱說：『我犯了罪，顛倒是非，卻沒有受該得的報應。上帝救贖我的性命免入地府，我的生命也必見光。』

你是叫我多經歷重大急難的，必使我再活過來，從地的深處救我上來。

我們受審判的時候，就是被主管教，這樣就免得和世人一同被定罪。

我們這短暫而輕微的苦楚要為我們成就極重、無比、永遠的榮耀。

肉身之父都是短時間隨己意管教我們，惟有靈性之父管教我們是要我們得益處，使我們在他的聖潔上有份。凡管教的事，當時不覺得快樂，反覺得痛苦；後來卻為那經過鍛鍊的人結出平安的果子，就是義的果子。

我的性命幾乎歸於塵土，求你照你的話將我救活！

耶穌卻回答說：「經上記着：『人活着，不是單靠食物，乃是靠上帝口裏所出的一切話。』」

你迎見那歡喜行義、記念你道的人；看哪，你曾發怒，因我們犯了罪；這景況已久，我們還能得救嗎？
