Lord, by such things people live; and my spirit finds life in them too. You restored me to health and let me live.

Lord, people find the will to live because you keep your promises. And my spirit also finds life in your promises. You brought me back to health. You let me live.

O Lord, by these things men live, and in all these is the life of my spirit. Oh restore me to health and make me live!

他苦煉你，任你飢餓，將你和你列祖所不認識的嗎哪賜給你吃，使你知道，人活着不是單靠食物，乃是靠耶和華口裏所出的一切話。

人在牀上被懲治，骨頭中不住地疼痛，以致他的口厭棄食物，心厭惡美味。他的肉消瘦，不得再見；先前不見的骨頭都凸出來。他的靈魂臨近深坑；他的生命近於滅命的。一千天使中，若有一個作傳話的與神同在，指示人所當行的事，神就給他開恩，說：救贖他免得下坑；我已經得了贖價。他的肉要比孩童的肉更嫩；他就返老還童。他禱告神，神就喜悅他，使他歡呼朝見神的面；神又看他為義。他在人前歌唱說：我犯了罪，顛倒是非，這竟與我無益。神救贖我的靈魂免入深坑；我的生命也必見光。

你是叫我們多經歷重大急難的，必使我們復活，從地的深處救上來。

我們受審的時候，乃是被主懲治，免得我們和世人一同定罪。

我們這至暫至輕的苦楚，要為我們成就極重無比、永遠的榮耀。

生身的父都是暫隨己意管教我們；惟有萬靈的父管教我們，是要我們得益處，使我們在他的聖潔上有分。凡管教的事，當時不覺得快樂，反覺得愁苦；後來卻為那經練過的人結出平安的果子，就是義。

我的性命幾乎歸於塵土；求你照你的話將我救活！

耶穌卻回答說：「經上記着說：人活着，不是單靠食物，乃是靠神口裏所出的一切話。」

你迎接那歡喜行義、記念你道的人；你曾發怒，我們仍犯罪；這景況已久，我們還能得救嗎？
