原來我們在這帳篷裡的人，承受著壓力，甚至呻吟嘆息；不是因為想要脫下，而是想要穿上，好讓這會死的被生命所吞沒。

我的年日如同偏斜的影子，我像牧草那樣枯乾。

至於我，我曾在慌亂中說：「我從你眼前被隔絕了！」然而當我向你呼救時，你仍然垂聽了我懇求的聲音。

那地必永無人煙，世世代代無人居住；阿拉伯人不會在那裡支搭帳篷，牧人也不會讓羊群躺臥在那裡；

你們不知道明天是什麼、生命是什麼！你們不過是一陣雲霧，出現片刻，隨後就消失了。

他使我的力量中途衰微，使我的年日縮短。我說：「我的神哪，不要在我年日的中途就把我帶走！你的歲月世世代代長存。

只有錫安城留了下來，像葡萄園中的棚子，像瓜田裡的茅屋，又像被圍困的城邑。

你截斷了他青春的日子，使他蒙受羞恥。細拉耶和華啊，這要到什麼時候呢？你要永久隱藏自己嗎？你的烈怒要像烈火那樣繼續燃燒嗎？求你記念我的一生是多麼短暫，你創造的所有世人是多麼虛妄！
