地下的陰間也因你而震動，來迎接你的臨到；又因你而驚動了地上一切首領的陰魂，使凡曾做列國君王的都離了座位而起立。

他們論到耶路撒冷的上帝，就如同論到地上別族之民的神、人手所造的神一樣。

永恆主就差遣了一個使者、在亞述王營中把一切有力氣英勇的人和將官及元帥、盡都抹除。亞述王滿面慚愧回他本地去。他進了他的神的廟，他親生的兒子在那裏用刀把他砍倒。

我列祖所毁滅歸神的那些國、其諸神中有哪一位能援救他自己的人民脫離我的手呢？難道你們的神能援救你們脫離我的手麼？

『明亮之星，啓明之子啊，你怎麼從天上墜落啊！你這使列國屈服的，你怎麼被砍倒於地上啊！

亞述王西拿基立拔了營走，就回去，住在尼尼微。他在他的神尼斯洛廟裏叩拜的時候，亞得米勒、他兒子、和沙利色、用刀弒殺了他，逃到亞拉臘地。他兒子以撒哈頓接替他作王。
