七月十七日，方舟停在亚拉腊山上。

就去见所罗巴伯和以色列的族长，对他们说：“请容我们与你们一同建造；因为我们寻求你们的神，与你们一样。自从亚述王以撒哈顿带我们上这地以来，我们常祭祀神。”

要在境内竖立大旗，在各国中吹角，使列国预备攻击巴比伦，将亚拉腊、米尼、亚实基拿各国招来攻击他；又派军长来攻击他，使马匹上来如蚂蚱，

你们要谨防，恐怕希西家劝导你们说：耶和华必拯救我们。列国的神有哪一个救他本国脱离亚述王的手呢？

你下到阴间，阴间就因你震动来迎接你，又因你惊动在世曾为首领的阴魂，并使那曾为列国君王的，都离位站起。

他们论耶路撒冷的神，如同论世上人手所造的神一样。

耶和华就差遣一个使者进入亚述王营中，把所有大能的勇士和官长、将帅尽都灭了。亚述王满面含羞地回到本国，进了他神的庙中，有他亲生的儿子在那里用刀杀了他。

“你们对犹大王希西家如此说：‘不要听你所倚靠的神欺哄你说：耶路撒冷必不交在亚述王的手中。

也不要听希西家使你们倚靠耶和华说：耶和华必要拯救我们，这城必不交在亚述王的手中。

我列祖所灭的国，那些神中谁能救自己的民脱离我手呢？难道你们的神能救你们脱离我手吗？

“明亮之星，早晨之子啊，你何竟从天坠落？你这攻败列国的何竟被砍倒在地上？
