Then the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty- five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning— there were all the dead bodies!

Then the angel of the Lord went into the camp of the Assyrians. He put to death 185,000 soldiers there. The people of Jerusalem got up the next morning. They looked out and saw all the dead bodies.

And the angel of the Lord went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians. And when people arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.

That night the angel of the Lord went out to the Assyrian camp and killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers. When the surviving Assyrians woke up the next morning, they found corpses everywhere.

Then the angel of the LORD went out and struck down one hundred eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians. When the people got up the next morning, there were all the dead bodies!

Then the angel of the Lord went out and struck 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians; and when the rest got up early in the morning, behold, all of the 185,000 were dead.

Therefore it will happen that when the Lord has performed his whole work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the willful proud heart of the king of Assyria, and the insolence of his arrogant looks.

When the angel stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, Yahweh relented of the disaster, and said to the angel who destroyed the people,“ It is enough. Now withdraw your hand.” Yahweh’s angel was by the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

“ The Assyrian will fall by the sword, not of man; and the sword, not of mankind, shall devour him. He will flee from the sword, and his young men will become subject to forced labor.

Yahweh sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty men of valor, and the leaders and captains, in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. When he had come into the house of his god, those who came out of his own body killed him there with the sword.Thus Yahweh saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side.

Behold, the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, will lop the boughs with terror. The tall will be cut down, and the lofty will be brought low.He will cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon will fall by the Mighty One.

The nations raged. The kingdoms were moved. He lifted his voice and the earth melted.Yahweh of Armies is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.Come, see Yahweh’s works, what desolations he has made in the earth.He makes wars cease to the end of the earth. He breaks the bow, and shatters the spear. He burns the chariots in the fire.“ Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”Yahweh of Armies is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

Therefore the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, will send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory a burning will be kindled like the burning of fire.The light of Israel will be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame; and it will burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day.He will consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body. It will be as when a standard bearer faints.The remnant of the trees of his forest shall be few, so that a child could write their number.

Yahweh will cause his glorious voice to be heard, and will show the descent of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and the flame of a devouring fire, with a blast, storm, and hailstones.For through Yahweh’s voice the Assyrian will be dismayed. He will strike him with his rod.Every stroke of the rod of punishment, which Yahweh will lay on him, will be with the sound of tambourines and harps. He will fight with them in battles, brandishing weapons.For his burning place has long been ready. Yes, for the king it is prepared. He has made its pyre deep and large with fire and much wood. Yahweh’s breath, like a stream of sulfur, kindles it.

Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not one dead.

They are exalted; yet a little while, and they are gone. Yes, they are brought low, they are taken out of the way as all others, and are cut off as the tops of the ears of grain.

For Yahweh will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when he sees the blood on the lintel, and on the two door posts, Yahweh will pass over the door, and will not allow the destroyer to come in to your houses to strike you.

Let them be as chaff before the wind, Yahweh’s angel driving them on.Let their way be dark and slippery, Yahweh’s angel pursuing them.

Valiant men lie plundered, they have slept their last sleep. None of the men of war can lift their hands.At your rebuke, God of Jacob, both chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.You, even you, are to be feared. Who can stand in your sight when you are angry?

that the triumphing of the wicked is short, the joy of the godless but for a moment?Though his height mount up to the heavens, and his head reach to the clouds,yet he will perish forever like his own dung. Those who have seen him will say,‘ Where is he?’

David lifted up his eyes, and saw Yahweh’s angel standing between earth and the sky, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell on their faces.

For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.For when they are saying,“ Peace and safety,” then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman. Then they will in no way escape.

either three years of famine; or three months to be consumed before your foes, while the sword of your enemies overtakes you; or else three days the sword of Yahweh, even pestilence in the land, and Yahweh’s angel destroying throughout all the borders of Israel. Now therefore consider what answer I shall return to him who sent me.’”

“ Now I will arise,” says Yahweh.“ Now I will lift myself up. Now I will be exalted.You will conceive chaff. You will give birth to stubble. Your breath is a fire that will devour you.The peoples will be like the burning of lime, like thorns that are cut down and burned in the fire.

Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he didn’t give God the glory. Then he was eaten by worms and died.
