Then the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty- five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning— there were all the dead bodies!

Then the angel of the Lord went into the camp of the Assyrians. He put to death 185,000 soldiers there. The people of Jerusalem got up the next morning. They looked out and saw all the dead bodies.

And the angel of the Lord went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians. And when people arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.

That night the angel of the Lord went out to the Assyrian camp and killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers. When the surviving Assyrians woke up the next morning, they found corpses everywhere.

当天使准备伸手毁灭耶路撒冷的时候，耶和华心生怜悯，就对灭命天使说：“够了，住手吧！”当时，耶和华的天使正站在耶布斯人亚劳拿的麦场上。

“亚述人必丧身刀下，但并非死于人的刀下。他们必逃避这刀，他们的青年必受奴役。

耶和华就差遣一个天使进入亚述王营中，毁灭了所有的勇士、官长和将领。西拿基立只好满脸羞愧地返回自己的国家。趁他去他神明的庙里时，他的几个亲生儿子用刀杀了他。这样，耶和华从亚述王西拿基立及一切仇敌手中拯救了希西迦和耶路撒冷的居民，使他们四境平安。

看啊，主——万军之耶和华要以大能削去树枝。高大的树必被斩断，挺拔的大树必被砍倒，茂密的树林必被铁斧砍掉，连黎巴嫩的大树也要倒在全能的上帝面前。

列邦动荡，列国倾覆。上帝的声音使大地熔化。万军之耶和华与我们同在，雅各的上帝是我们的堡垒。（细拉）来看耶和华的作为吧！祂使大地荒凉。祂平息天下的战争，祂断弓、折枪、烧毁盾牌。祂说：“要安静，要知道我是上帝，我必在列国受尊崇，在普世受尊崇。”万军之耶和华与我们同在，雅各的上帝是我们的堡垒。

因此，主——万军之耶和华必使亚述王强健的士兵疾病缠身，使火焰吞噬他的荣耀。以色列的光必成为火焰，他们的圣者必成为烈火，一日之间烧光亚述王的荆棘和蒺藜。他茂盛的树林和肥美的田园必被彻底摧毁，犹如病人渐渐消亡。林中剩下的树木稀少，连小孩子也能数清。

耶和华必使人听见祂威严的声音，在愤怒、烈焰、暴雨、雷轰和冰雹中让人看见祂降罚的臂膀。亚述人听见耶和华的声音必心惊胆战，祂必用杖击打他们。耶和华的刑杖每责打他们一下，祂的子民必击鼓弹琴。祂必在战场上挥手击打他们。焚烧之地——陀斐特早已为亚述王预备好了，那里又宽又深，堆着许多木柴，耶和华的气必如同一股硫磺火点燃那些木柴。

晚上，法老及其臣仆和所有埃及人都惊醒了，到处都是哭号声，因为没有一家不死人的。

他们一时得势，转瞬消逝；他们沦为卑贱，像其他人一样灭亡，像麦穗一样被割掉。

因为耶和华要巡行各地，击杀埃及人，祂看见你们的门框和门楣上有血，就必越过你们的家门，不让灭命者进你们家杀人。

愿耶和华的天使驱散他们，如风吹散糠秕！愿他们的道路漆黑泥泞，有耶和华的天使在后追赶！

强敌被掳掠，他们倒地而亡，再也不能还手。雅各的上帝啊，你一斥责，他们就人仰马翻。唯有你当受敬畏。你发怒的时候，谁能在你面前站立呢？

恶人得势不会长久，不信上帝者的快乐转瞬即逝？虽然他傲气冲天，把头挺到云端，终必如自己的粪便永远消亡，见过他的人都不知他在何处。

大卫举目看见耶和华的天使站在天地之间，手握着已出鞘的刀，指向耶路撒冷。大卫和众长老都身披麻衣，脸伏于地。

因为你们已经清楚知道，将来有一天，主会突然来到，像贼在夜里忽然出现一样。当人们正在说一切平安稳妥的时候，灾祸会像产痛临到孕妇一样突然临到他们，令他们无法逃脱。

或三年的饥荒，或被敌人追杀三个月，或国中遭三天的瘟疫，让耶和华的天使在以色列全境施行毁灭。请你考虑好后告诉我，我好回复那差我来的。”

耶和华说：“我现在要施展大能，我必受尊崇。你们所谋的像糠秕，所行的如碎秸，毫无价值。你们的气息会像火一样烧灭你们自己。列邦必被烧成灰烬，好像割下的荆棘被火焚烧。”

希律没有把荣耀归给上帝，主的天使立刻惩罚他，他当场被虫子咬死了。
