Through your servants you have taunted the Lord, And you have said,‘ With my many chariots I came up to the heights of the mountains, To the remotest parts of Lebanon; And I cut down its tall cedars and its choice junipers. And I will come to its highest peak, its thickest forest.

你藉著你的臣僕辱罵神；你又說：我帶著眾多的戰車，上到群山的高峰和黎巴嫩的極深之處；我砍伐黎巴嫩最高的香柏樹和最好的松樹，來到它的極高之處和最茂密的森林；

爾藉臣僕侮主、曰我率眾車陟於山巔、至利巴嫩之深處、伐其香柏之高者、松木之美者、將入其境之極處、即腴壤之森林、

爾遣僕侮耶和華云、我率眾車、已躋山巔、在利巴嫩旁、斫柏香木之高者、松柏之美者、我必造其極處、奪其良田、

爾藉使者毀謗主云、我率戰車眾多、登山巔、至利巴嫩山旁、伐柏香木之高者、柏樹之美者、我已至其境之極處、至其茂密之樹林、

By your messengers you have ridiculed the Lord. And you have said,‘ With my many chariots I have ascended the heights of the mountains, the utmost heights of Lebanon. I have cut down its tallest cedars, the choicest of its junipers. I have reached its remotest heights, the finest of its forests.

Through your messengers you have laughed at me again and again. And you have said,‘ I have many chariots. With them I have climbed to the tops of the mountains. I’ve climbed the highest mountains in Lebanon. I’ve cut down its tallest cedar trees. I’ve cut down the best of its juniper trees. I’ve reached its farthest mountains. I’ve reached its finest forests.

By your servants you have mocked the Lord, and you have said, With my many chariots I have gone up the heights of the mountains, to the far recesses of Lebanon, to cut down its tallest cedars, its choicest cypresses, to come to its remotest height, its most fruitful forest.

By your messengers you have defied the Lord. You have said,‘ With my many chariots I have conquered the highest mountains— yes, the remotest peaks of Lebanon. I have cut down its tallest cedars and its finest cypress trees. I have reached its farthest heights and explored its deepest forests.

You have mocked the Lord through your servants. You have said,“ With my many chariots I have gone up to the heights of the mountains, to the far recesses of Lebanon. I cut down its tallest cedars, its choice cypress trees. I came to its distant heights, its densest forest.

By your servants you have reproached the Lord, And said,‘ By the multitude of my chariots I have come up to the height of the mountains, To the limits of Lebanon; I will cut down its tall cedars And its choice cypress trees; I will enter its farthest height, To its fruitful forest.

By thy servants hast thou defied the Lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice fir- trees thereof; and I will enter into its farthest height, the forest of its fruitful field;

You have mocked the Lord through your servants. You have said,“ With my many chariots I have gone up to the heights of the mountains, to the far recesses of Lebanon. I cut down its tallest cedars, its choice cypress trees. I came to its distant heights, its densest forest.

By thy servants hast thou reproached the Lord, and hast said, By the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof,[ and] the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the height of his border,[ and] the forest of his Carmel.

Through your messengers you taunted the sovereign master,‘ With my many chariots I climbed up the high mountains, the slopes of Lebanon. I cut down its tall cedars and its best evergreens. I invaded its most remote regions, its thickest woods.

By your servants, you have defied the Lord, and have said,“ With the multitude of my chariots I have come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Lebanon. I will cut down its tall cedars and its choice cypress trees. I will enter into its farthest height, the forest of its fruitful field.

Even the juniper trees rejoice over you, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying,‘ Since you have been laid low, no tree cutter comes up against us.’

And He will destroy the glory of his forest and of his fruitful garden, both soul and body, And it will be as when a sick person wastes away.

Behold, Assyria was a cedar in Lebanon With beautiful branches and forest shade, And very high, And its top was among the clouds.The waters made it grow, the deep made it high. With its rivers it continually extended all around its planting place, And sent out its channels to all the trees of the field.Therefore its height was loftier than all the trees of the field And its boughs became many and its branches long Because of many waters as it spread them out.All the birds of the sky nested in its twigs, And under its branches all the animals of the field gave birth, And all great nations lived under its shade.So it was beautiful in its greatness, in the length of its branches; For its roots extended to many waters.The cedars in God’s garden could not match it; The junipers could not compare with its branches, And the plane trees could not match its branches. No tree in God’s garden could compare with it in its beauty.I made it beautiful with the multitude of its branches, And all the trees of Eden, which were in the garden of God, were jealous of it.‘ Therefore this is what the Lord God says:“ Because it is tall in stature and has put its top among the clouds, and its heart is haughty in its loftiness,I will hand it over to a ruler of the nations; he will thoroughly deal with it. In accordance with its wickedness I have driven it out.Foreign tyrants of the nations have cut it down and left it; on the mountains and in all the valleys its branches have fallen, and its branches have been broken in all the ravines of the land. And all the peoples of the earth have gone down from its shade and left it.All the birds of the sky will nest on its fallen trunk, and all the animals of the field will rest on its fallen branches,so that all the trees by the waters will not be exalted in their stature, nor put their tops among the clouds, nor will any of their well watered mighty ones stand straight in their height. For they have all been turned over to death, to the earth beneath, among mankind, with those who go down to the pit.”‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ On the day when it went down to Sheol I caused mourning; I closed the deep over it and held back its rivers. And its many waters were stopped up, and I made Lebanon mourn for it, and all the trees of the field wilted away on account of it.I made the nations quake from the sound of its fall when I made it go down to Sheol with those who go down to the pit; and all the well watered trees of Eden, the choicest and best of Lebanon, were comforted in the earth beneath.They also went down with it to Sheol to those who were slain by the sword; and those who were its strength lived in its shade among the nations.“ To which among the trees of Eden are you so alike in glory and greatness? Yet you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the earth beneath; you will lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with those who were killed by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his hordes!” ’ declares the Lord God.”

Perhaps the Lord your God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to taunt the living God, and will avenge the words which the Lord your God has heard. Therefore, offer a prayer for the remnant that is left.’ ”

For he has said,“ By the power of my hand and by my wisdom I did this, Because I have understanding; And I removed the boundaries of the peoples And plundered their treasures, And like a powerful man I brought down their inhabitants,And my hand reached to the riches of the peoples like a nest, And as one gathers abandoned eggs, I gathered all the earth; And there was not one that flapped its wing, opened its beak, or chirped.”

Some praise their chariots and some their horses, But we will praise the name of the Lord, our God.

Is it not yet just a little while Before Lebanon will be turned into a fertile field, And the fertile field will be considered as a forest?

But finally Daniel came in before me, whose name is Belteshazzar according to the name of my god, and in whom is a spirit of the holy gods; and I related the dream to him, saying,‘ Belteshazzar, chief of the soothsayer priests, since I know that a spirit of the holy gods is in you and no secret baffles you, tell me the visions of my dream which I have seen, along with its interpretation.‘ Now these were the visions in my mind as I lay on my bed: I was looking, and behold, there was a tree in the middle of the earth and its height was great.The tree grew large and became strong And its height reached to the sky, And it was visible to the end of the whole earth.Its foliage was beautiful and its fruit abundant, And in it was food for all. The animals of the field found shade under it, And the birds of the sky lived in its branches, And all living creatures fed from it.‘ I was looking in the visions in my mind as I lay on my bed, and behold, an angelic watcher, a holy one, descended from heaven.He shouted out and spoke as follows:“ Chop down the tree and cut off its branches, Shake off its foliage and scatter its fruit; Let the animals flee from under it And the birds from its branches.

and do not let Hezekiah lead you to rely on the Lord, saying,“ The Lord will certainly save us. This city will not be handed over to the king of Assyria!”Do not listen to Hezekiah,’ for this is what the king of Assyria says:‘ Surrender to me and come out to me, and eat, each one, of his vine and each of his fig tree, and each drink of the waters of his own cistern,until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.Beware that Hezekiah does not mislead you, saying,“ The Lord will save us.” Has any one of the gods of the nations saved his land from the hand of the king of Assyria?Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? And when have they saved Samaria from my hand?Who among all the gods of these lands have saved their land from my hand, that the Lord would save Jerusalem from my hand?’ ”

Whom have you taunted and blasphemed? And against whom have you raised your voice, And haughtily raised your eyes? Against the Holy One of Israel!Through your messengers you have taunted the Lord, And you have said,“ With my many chariots I went up to the heights of the mountains, To the remotest parts of Lebanon; And I cut down its tall cedars and its choicest junipers. And I entered its farthest resting place, its thickest forest.

The enemy said,‘ I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoils; I shall be satisfied against them; I will draw my sword, my hand will destroy them.’

How then can you drive back even one official of the least of my master’s servants and rely on Egypt for chariots and horsemen?

The king began speaking and was saying,‘ Is this not Babylon the great, which I myself have built as a royal residence by the might of my power and for the honor of my majesty?’

The tree that you saw, which became large and grew strong, whose height reached to the sky and was visible to all the earth,and whose foliage was beautiful and its fruit abundant, and in which was food for all, under which the animals of the field lived and in whose branches the birds of the sky settled—it is you, O king; for you have become great and grown strong, and your majesty has become great and reached to the sky, and your dominion to the end of the earth.

Open your doors, Lebanon, So that a fire may feed on your cedars.Wail, juniper, because the cedar has fallen, For the magnificent trees have been destroyed; Wail, oaks of Bashan, Because the impenetrable forest has come down.
