They have thrown their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods but only wood and stone, fashioned by human hands.

They have thrown the statues of the gods of those nations into the fire. And they have destroyed them. That’s because they weren’t really gods at all. They were nothing but statues made out of wood and stone. They were made by human hands.

看哪，你們屬乎虛無，你們的作為也屬虛空；那選擇你們的是可憎惡的。

迦勒挪豈不像迦基米施嗎？哈馬豈不像亞珥拔嗎？撒瑪利亞豈不像大馬士革嗎？既然我的手已伸到了這些有偶像的國，他們所雕刻的偶像過於耶路撒冷和撒瑪利亞的偶像，我豈不照樣待耶路撒冷和其中的偶像，如同我待撒瑪利亞和其中的偶像嗎？」

他將他們所鑄的牛犢用火焚燒，磨得粉碎，撒在水面上，叫以色列人喝。

看哪，他們盡是麻煩，所做的工都屬虛無；所鑄的偶像是風，是虛空。

木匠鼓勵銀匠，用鎚子打光的鼓勵打砧的，對銲工說：「銲得好！」又用釘子釘穩，免得它倒下。

你們要對他們這樣說：「那些不是創造天地的神明，必從地上、從天下被除滅！」

萬民的習俗是虛空的；偶像不過是從樹林中砍來的木頭，是匠人用斧頭做成的手工。人用金銀妝飾它，用釘子和錘子釘穩，使它不動搖。偶像好像瓜田裏的稻草人，不能說話，不能行走，必須有人抬着。不要怕它們，因它們不能降禍，也無力降福。」耶和華啊，沒有誰能與你相比！你本為大，你的名也大有能力。

彼勒叩拜，尼波屈身；巴比倫的偶像馱在走獸和牲畜背上。你們所抬的成了重馱，使牲畜疲乏。這些神明一同屈身叩拜，不能救自己，反倒遭人擄去。

至於偶像，匠人鑄造它，銀匠用金子包裹它，又為它鑄造銀鏈。沒有能力捐獻的人，就挑選不易朽壞的木頭，為自己尋找巧匠，豎立不會倒的偶像。你們豈不知道嗎？豈未曾聽見嗎？難道沒有人從起頭就告訴你們嗎？自從地的根基立定，你們豈不明白嗎？

製造偶像的人盡都虛空，他們所喜悅的全無益處；偶像的見證人毫無所見，毫無所知，以致他們羞愧。誰製造神像，鑄造偶像？這些都是無益的。

然後又用剩下的一半做了一個神明，就是雕刻的偶像，向這偶像俯伏叩拜，向它禱告說：「求你拯救我，因你是我的神明。」

死去的不能再復活，陰魂不能再興起；你懲罰他們，使他們毀滅，他們的名號就全然消滅。

他們的偶像是金的，是銀的，是人手所造的，有口卻不能言，有眼卻不能看，有耳卻不能聽，有鼻卻不能聞，有手卻不能摸，有腳卻不能走，有喉卻不能說話。造它們的要像它們一樣，凡靠它們的也必如此。

恐怕希西家誤導你們說，耶和華必拯救我們。列國的神明有哪一個曾救它本國脫離亞述王的手呢？哈馬和亞珥拔的神明在哪裏呢？西法瓦音的神明在哪裏呢？它們曾救撒瑪利亞脫離我的手嗎？這些國的神明有誰曾救自己的國家脫離我的手呢？難道耶和華能救耶路撒冷脫離我的手嗎？』」

非利士人把偶像拋棄在那裏，大衛和他的人拿去了。
