They have thrown their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods but only wood and stone, fashioned by human hands.

They have thrown the statues of the gods of those nations into the fire. And they have destroyed them. That’s because they weren’t really gods at all. They were nothing but statues made out of wood and stone. They were made by human hands.

迦勒挪不是像迦基米施嗎？哈瑪不是像亞珥拔嗎？撒瑪利亞不是像大馬士革嗎？我的手伸展到這些充滿偶像的國，他們雕刻的像比耶路撒冷和撒瑪利亞的還多。我怎樣對待撒瑪利亞和其中的偶像，不也照樣對待耶路撒冷和其中的偶像嗎？”

又把他們所做的那牛犢拿過來，用火焚燒，磨到粉碎，撒在水面上，讓以色列人喝。

看哪！他們都是無有，他們所作的都是虛無；他們所鑄的偶像都是風，都是虛空。

木匠堅固金匠，用鎚打光金屬的，鼓勵打砧的；論銲工說：“銲得好！”又用釘子釘穩了。使偶像不致動搖。

你們要對他們這樣說：“那些沒有創造天地的神，必從地上、從天下消滅。”

因為萬民所信奉的都是虛空，只是從林中砍下的樹木，是匠人用鑿刀製成的產品。他們用金銀把它修飾，用釘子和鎚子把它釘牢，使它不動搖。它們像瓜田裡的稻草人，不能說話；它們必須要人抬著走，因為它們不能走路。你們不要害怕它們，因它們不能降禍，也不能降福。”耶和華啊！沒有可以跟你相比的；你是偉大的，你的名大有能力。

彼勒俯伏，尼波彎腰；巴比倫人的偶像馱在走獸和牲口上。你們所抬的現在都成了重擔，成了疲乏的牲畜身上的重負。它們一同彎腰、俯伏，不能保護重負，它們自己反倒被擄去了。

至於偶像，是匠人鑄造的，鑄匠用金子把它包裹，用銀子為它做銀鍊。貧窮獻不起這供物的，就揀選不朽壞的樹木，為自己尋找巧匠，立起不會動搖的偶像。你們不曾知道嗎？你們不曾聽見嗎？不是從起初就已經告訴過你們嗎？自從大地的根基立了以來，你們還不曾明白嗎？

製造偶像的人，盡都是虛空的，他們所喜愛的，都沒有益處。他們的見證人，一無所見，一無所知，以致他們蒙羞。誰製造神像，或鑄造偶像，不想得到益處呢？

他用剩下來的一半做了一個神像，就是他雕刻的偶像，他向它俯伏，向它敬拜，又向它禱告，說：“求你救我，因為你是我的神。”

死去的不能再活，離世的不能再起來，因為你懲罰他們，消滅了他們，使他們完全不再被記念。

列國的偶像是金的、銀的，是人手所做的。它們有口，卻不能說話；有眼，卻不能看；有耳，卻不能聽；有鼻，卻不能聞；有手，卻不能摸；有腳，卻不能行；也不能用喉嚨發聲。做偶像的必和偶像一樣；凡是倚靠它們的，都必這樣。

你們要小心，免得希西家慫恿你們說：耶和華必拯救我們。列國的神有哪一位曾拯救自己的國土脫離亞述王的手呢？哈馬和亞珥拔的神在哪裡呢？西法瓦音的神在哪裡呢？他們曾拯救撒瑪利亞脫離我的手嗎？這些國所有的神中，有哪一個曾拯救自己的國土脫離我的手呢？難道耶和華能拯救耶路撒冷脫離我的手嗎？’”

非利士人把他們的神像遺棄在那裡，大衛和跟隨他的人就把它們拿走了。
