不要照著愚昧人的愚妄回答他，免得你像他一樣。

我曾說：“我要謹慎我的行為，不讓我的舌頭犯罪；惡人在我面前的時候，我總要用罩子約束我的嘴。”

為此，聰明人在這時代緘默無聲，因這時代邪惡。

不要把聖物給狗，也不要把你們的珍珠丟在豬前，免得牠們用腳把珍珠踐踏，又轉過來猛噬你們。

至於我，像個聾子，不能聽見；像個啞巴，不能開口。我竟變成了一個像是不能聽見的人，變成了一個口中不能反駁的人。耶和華啊！我等候你；主我的神啊！你必應允我。

希勒家的兒子以利亞敬、舍伯那和約亞對拉伯沙基說：“請用亞蘭語和你的僕人們說話，因為我們聽得懂；不要用猶大語和我們說話，免得傳入在城牆上的人民的耳中。”

糾正好譏笑人的，必自招恥辱；責備惡人的，必遭受羞辱。你不要責備好譏笑人的，免得他恨你；要責備智慧人，他必愛你。

當時王宮總管希勒家的兒子以利亞敬、書記舍伯那和亞薩的兒子史官約亞來到希西家那裡，他們的衣服都撕裂了，他們把拉伯沙基的話都告訴了他。
