亞述王上來攻擊以色列全地，上到撒瑪利亞，圍困這城三年。何細亞第九年，亞述王攻取了撒瑪利亞，把以色列人擄到亞述，安置在哈臘與歌散的哈博河邊，以及瑪代人的城鎮。這是因為以色列人得罪了那領他們出埃及地、脫離埃及王法老之手的耶和華－他們的神，去敬畏別神，
