论到大马士革，耶和华说：“哈马和亚珥拔纷乱不安，因为他们听到了坏消息；他们的心融化，焦虑慌张，像不能平静的海洋。

迦勒挪不是像迦基米施吗？哈玛不是像亚珥拔吗？撒玛利亚不是像大马士革吗？我的手伸展到这些充满偶像的国，他们雕刻的像比耶路撒冷和撒玛利亚的还多。我怎样对待撒玛利亚和其中的偶像，不也照样对待耶路撒冷和其中的偶像吗？”

从何珥山起画界，直到哈马口，使边界直到西达达；

你必定听过亚述列王向列国所行的，就是把她们完全毁灭，难道你还有救吗？我列祖所毁灭的国，有歌撒、哈兰、利色和在提．拉撒的伊甸人，这些国的神曾拯救她们吗？哈马的王、亚珥拔的王、西法瓦音城的王、希拿和以瓦的王，现在都在哪里呢？”

哈马王陀以听见大卫打败了哈大底谢的全军，

过了三年，他们就攻取了撒玛利亚。希西家在位第六年，就是以色列王何细亚在位第九年，撒玛利亚被攻取了。亚述王把以色列人掳到亚述去，把他们安置在哈腊、哈博河和歌散河，以及玛代人的城里；这是因为他们不听从耶和华他们神的话，违背他的约；耶和华的仆人摩西吩咐的一切，他们都不听从，不遵行。

亚述王从巴比伦、古他、亚瓦、哈马和西法瓦音带人来，安置在撒玛利亚的城市，代替以色列人。他们就得了撒玛利亚作产业，住在它的城市中。

亚述王上来攻击以色列全国各地，并且到撒玛利亚来，围城三年。何细亚在位第九年，亚述王占领了撒玛利亚，把以色列人掳到亚述去，安置他们在哈腊，在哈博河和歌散河一带，以及在玛代人的各城。这是因为以色列人得罪了那曾带领他们从埃及王法老的手下离开埃及的耶和华他们的神，去敬畏别的神。
