In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah’s reign, Sennacherib king of Assyria attacked all the fortified cities of Judah and captured them.

因此，主必使大河翻腾的水猛然冲来，就是亚述王和他所有的威势，必漫过一切的水道，涨过两岸；必冲入犹大，涨溢泛滥，直到颈项。以马内利啊，他展开翅膀，遍满你的地。”

耶和华必使亚述王攻击你的日子临到你和你的百姓，并你的父家，自从以法莲离开犹大以来，未曾有这样的日子。

看哪，他们的豪杰在外头哀号；求和的使臣痛痛哭泣。大路荒凉，行人止息；敌人背约，藐视城邑，不顾人民。

亚述王来到亚叶，经过米矶仑，在密抹安放辎重。他们过了隘口，在迦巴住宿。拉玛人战兢；扫罗的基比亚人逃跑。迦琳的居民哪，要高声呼喊！莱煞人哪，须听！哀哉！困苦的亚拿突啊。玛得米那人躲避；基柄的居民逃遁。当那日，亚述王要在挪伯歇兵，向锡安女子的山，就是耶路撒冷的山，抡手攻他。

你们的地土已经荒凉；你们的城邑被火焚毁。你们的田地在你们眼前为外邦人所侵吞，既被外邦人倾覆就成为荒凉。仅存锡安城，好像葡萄园的草棚，瓜田的茅屋，被围困的城邑。
