In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah’s reign, Sennacherib king of Assyria attacked all the fortified cities of Judah and captured them.

耶和华必使亚述王攻击的日子临到你、你的子民和你的父家；这是自从以法莲脱离犹大以来，未曾有过的日子。

看哪！他们的勇士在街上呼叫，和平的使者痛苦地哭泣。大道荒凉，行人绝迹；约被破坏，城被厌弃，人也不被重视。

亚述人来到亚叶，经过米矶仑，在米克玛安放辎重。他们过了关口，说：“我们要把迦巴当作宿营地！”于是拉玛人战兢，扫罗-基比亚人逃跑。迦琳的民哪，高声呼喊吧！拉亿和困苦的亚纳图啊，留心听吧！玛得米纳逃亡，基柄的居民避难。就在那日，亚述人要在挪伯站住，挥手攻击锡安城的山，就是耶路撒冷的冈陵。

你们的国土荒凉，你们的城市被火烧毁；你们的田地，在你们面前被外族人吞噬，荒凉得就像被外族人覆灭了一样。只有锡安城留了下来，像葡萄园中的棚子，像瓜田里的茅屋，又像被围困的城邑。
