For the Lord’s anger is against all the nations, And His wrath against all their armies. He has utterly destroyed them, He has turned them over to slaughter.

The Lord is angry with all nations; his wrath is on all their armies. He will totally destroy them, he will give them over to slaughter.

For the Lord is enraged against all the nations, and furious against all their host; he has devoted them to destruction, has given them over for slaughter.

They are coming from a distant country, From the farthest horizons, The Lord and the weapons of His indignation, To destroy the whole land.

And they came up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, and fire came down from heaven and devoured them.

Behold, the name of the Lord comes from a remote place; His anger is burning and dense with smoke; His lips are filled with indignation, And His tongue is like a consuming fire;His breath is like an overflowing river, Which reaches to the neck, To shake the nations back and forth in a sieve, And to put in the jaws of the peoples the bridle which leads astray.You will have songs as in the night when you keep the festival, And gladness of heart as when one marches to the sound of the flute, To go to the mountain of the Lord, to the Rock of Israel.And the Lord will cause His voice of authority to be heard, And the descending of His arm to be seen in fierce anger, And in the flame of a consuming fire In cloudburst, downpour, and hailstones.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of people who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

And on every lofty mountain and every high hill there will be streams running with water on the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.

Proclaim this among the nations: Prepare for holy war; stir up the warriors! Have all the soldiers come forward, have them come up!Beat your plowshares into swords, And your pruning hooks into spears; Let the weak man say,“ I am a warrior.”Hurry and come, all you surrounding nations, And gather yourselves there. Bring down, Lord, Your warriors.Let the nations be awakened And come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat, For there I will sit to judge All the surrounding nations.Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, tread the grapes, for the wine press is full; The vats overflow, for their wickedness is great.Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.

“ Therefore wait for Me,” declares the Lord,“ For the day when I rise up as a witness. Indeed, My decision is to gather nations, To assemble kingdoms, To pour out on them My indignation, All My burning anger; For all the earth will be devoured By the fire of My zeal.

Now this will be the plague with which the Lord will strike all the peoples who have gone to war against Jerusalem; their flesh will rot while they stand on their feet, and their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongue will rot in their mouth.And it will come about on that day that a great panic from the Lord will fall on them; and they will seize one another’s hand, and the hand of one will be raised against the hand of another.Judah also will fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the surrounding nations will be gathered, gold, silver, and garments in great abundance.And just like this plague, there will be a plague on the horse, the mule, the camel, the donkey, and all the cattle that will be in those camps.Then it will come about that any who are left of all the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of armies, and to celebrate the Feast of Booths.

And I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became as black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood;and the stars of the sky fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind.The sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.Then the kings of the earth and the eminent people, and the commanders and the wealthy and the strong, and every slave and free person hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains;and they* said to the mountains and the rocks,“ Fall on us and hide us from the sight of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb;for the great day of Their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”

For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to me:“ Take this cup of the wine of wrath from My hand and give it to all the nations to whom I send you, to drink from it.Then they will drink and loudly vomit and act insanely because of the sword that I am going to send among them.”So I took the cup from the Lord’s hand and gave it to all the nations to whom the Lord sent me, to drink from it:To Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, and its kings and its officials, to make them places of ruins, objects of horror, hissing, and a curse, as it is this day;To Pharaoh king of Egypt, his servants, his officials, and all his people;and to all the foreign people, all the kings of the land of Uz, all the kings of the land of the Philistines( that is, Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod);To Edom, Moab, and the sons of Ammon;and to all the kings of Tyre, all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the coastlands which are beyond the sea;and to Dedan, Tema, Buz, and all who trim the corners of their hair;and to all the kings of Arabia and all the kings of the foreign people who live in the desert;and to all the kings of Zimri, all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of Media;and to all the kings of the north, near and far, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the earth which are on the face of the ground; and the king of Sheshach shall drink it after them.“ And you shall say to them,‘ This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:“ Drink, be drunk, vomit, fall down, and do not get up, because of the sword which I am sending among you.” ’And if they refuse to take the cup from your hand to drink, then you shall say to them,‘ This is what the Lord of armies says:“ You shall certainly drink!For behold, I am beginning to inflict disaster on this city which is called by My name, so should you be completely free from punishment? You will not be free from punishment, for I am summoning a sword against all the inhabitants of the earth,” declares the Lord of armies.’

And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Behold, the Lord lays the earth waste, devastates it, twists its surface, and scatters its inhabitants.And the people will be like the priest, the servant like his master, the female servant like her mistress, the buyer like the seller, the lender like the borrower, the creditor like the debtor.The earth will be completely laid waste and completely plundered, for the Lord has spoken this word.The earth dries up and crumbles away, the mainland dries out and crumbles away, the exalted of the people of the earth dwindle.The earth is also defiled by its inhabitants, for they violated laws, altered statutes, and broke the everlasting covenant.Therefore, a curse devours the earth, and those who live on it suffer for their guilt. Therefore, the inhabitants of the earth decrease in number, and few people are left.The new wine mourns, The vine decays, All the joyful hearted sigh.The joy of tambourines ceases, The noise of revelers stops, The joy of the harp ceases.They do not drink wine with song; Intoxicating drink is bitter to those who drink it.The city of chaos is broken down; Every house is shut up so that no one may enter.There is an outcry in the streets concerning the wine; All joy turns to gloom. The joy of the earth is banished.Desolation is left in the city And the gate is battered to ruins.For so it will be in the midst of the earth among the peoples, As the shaking of an olive tree, As the gleanings when the grape harvest is over.They raise their voices, they shout for joy; They cry out from the west concerning the majesty of the Lord.Therefore glorify the Lord in the east, The name of the Lord, the God of Israel, In the coastlands of the sea.From the ends of the earth we hear songs:“ Glory to the Righteous One,” But I say,“ I am finished! I am finished! Woe to me! The treacherous deal treacherously, And the treacherous deal very treacherously.”Terror and pit and snare Confront you, you inhabitant of the earth.Then it will be that the one who flees the sound of terror will fall into the pit, And the one who climbs out of the pit will be caught in the snare; For the windows above are opened, and the foundations of the earth shake.The earth is broken apart, The earth is split through, The earth is shaken violently.The earth trembles like a heavy drinker And sways like a hut, For its wrongdoing is heavy upon it, And it will fall, never to rise again.So it will happen on that day, That the Lord will punish the rebellious angels of heaven on high, And the kings of the earth on earth.They will be gathered together Like prisoners in the dungeon, And will be confined in prison; And after many days they will be punished.Then the moon will be ashamed and the sun be put to shame, For the Lord of armies will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, And His glory will be before His elders.

From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written:“ KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in midheaven,“ Come, assemble for the great feast of God,so that you may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of commanders, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, both free and slaves, and small and great.”And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies, assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse, and against His army.And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire, which burns with brimstone.And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

And another angel came out of the temple, calling out with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud,“ Put in your sickle and reap, for the hour to reap has come, because the harvest of the earth is ripe.”Then He who sat on the cloud swung His sickle over the earth, and the earth was reaped.And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, and he also had a sharp sickle.Then another angel, the one who has power over fire, came out from the altar; and he called with a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, saying,“ Put in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters from the vine of the earth, because her grapes are ripe.”So the angel swung his sickle to the earth and gathered the clusters from the vine of the earth, and threw them into the great wine press of the wrath of God.And the wine press was trampled outside the city, and blood came out from the wine press, up to the horses’ bridles, for a distance of 1,600 stadia.

The words of Amos, who was among the sheepherders from Tekoa, which he saw in visions concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.And he said,“ The Lord roars from Zion, And from Jerusalem He utters His voice; And the shepherds’ pasture grounds mourn, And the summit of Carmel dries up.”

A jealous and avenging God is the Lord; The Lord is avenging and wrathful. The Lord takes vengeance on His adversaries, And He reserves wrath for His enemies.The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, And the Lord will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. In the gale and the storm is His way, And clouds are the dust beneath His feet.He rebukes the sea and dries it up; He dries up all the rivers. Bashan and Carmel wither, The blossoms of Lebanon wither.Mountains quake because of Him, And the hills come apart; Indeed the earth is upheaved by His presence, The world and all the inhabitants in it.Who can stand before His indignation? Who can endure the burning of His anger? His wrath gushes forth like fire, And the rocks are broken up by Him.

Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle.
