The desert owl and screech owl will possess it; the great owl and the raven will nest there. God will stretch out over Edom the measuring line of chaos and the plumb line of desolation.

It will be haunted by the desert owl and the screech owl, the great owl and the raven. For God will measure that land carefully; he will measure it for chaos and destruction.

Eagle owls and herons will possess it, and long-eared owls and ravens will dwell there. The LORD will stretch out a measuring line and a plumb line over her for her destruction and chaos.

他用強有力的聲音呼喊說：“傾倒了！大巴比倫傾倒了！成了鬼魔的住處，各樣污靈的監獄，一切污穢可憎之雀鳥的牢籠，

“我必使巴比倫被箭豬所佔，又使它變為泥沼之地；我必用毀滅的掃帚把它掃淨。”這是萬軍之耶和華說的。

那地必永遠沒有居民，世世代代無人居住；阿拉伯人不在那裡搭帳幕；牧羊人也不領羊群躺臥在那裡。躺臥在那裡的，只有曠野的走獸；充滿著他們房屋的，只有吼叫著的野獸；鴕鳥住在那裡，野山羊在那裡跳躍。豺狼必在巴比倫的宮中呼號，野狗必在他們華美的殿裡吠叫。巴比倫受罰的時候臨近了，它的日子必不長久。

有一位大力的天使，把一塊好像大磨石一樣的石頭，舉起來拋在海裡，說：“巴比倫大城也必這樣被猛力地拋下去，決不能再找到了！彈琴、奏樂、吹笛、吹號的聲音，在你中間決不能再聽到了！各樣手藝技工，在你中間決不能再找到了！推磨的聲音，在你中間決不能再聽到了！燈的亮光，在你中間決不能再照耀了！新郎新娘的聲音，在你中間決不能再聽到了！你的商人一向都是地上的大人物，萬國都因你的邪術受了迷惑。

他又擊敗摩押人，使他們躺在地上，用繩子量他們，把量兩繩的殺死，讓量一繩的存活。這樣，摩押人就臣服大衛，給他進貢。

混亂的城破毀了，各家關門閉戶，使人不得進入。

惡以掃。我使以掃的山地荒涼，把他的產業給了曠野的豺狼。”如果以東說：“我們雖然遭破壞，但仍要把廢墟重建起來。”萬軍之耶和華這樣說：“他們只管建造，我卻要拆毀。人要稱他們為罪惡的境地，為耶和華永遠惱怒的子民。”
