那些長大痲瘋的到了營邊，進了帳棚，吃了喝了，且從其中拿出金銀和衣服來，去收藏了；回來又進了一座帳棚，從其中拿出財物來去收藏了。

神卻揀選了世上愚拙的，叫有智慧的羞愧；又揀選了世上軟弱的，叫那強壯的羞愧。

統兵的君王逃跑了，逃跑了；在家等候的婦女分受所奪的。

你們所擄的必被斂盡，好像螞蚱吃盡禾稼。人要蹦在其上，好像蝗蟲一樣。

禍哉！你這毀滅人的，自己倒不被毀滅；行事詭詐的，人倒不以詭詐待你。你毀滅罷休了，自己必被毀滅；你行完了詭詐，人必以詭詐待你。

水手想要逃出船去，把小船放在海裏，假作要從船頭拋錨的樣子。保羅對百夫長和兵丁說：「這些人若不等在船上，你們必不能得救。」於是兵丁砍斷小船的繩子，由它飄去。

盪槳的已經把你盪到大水之處，東風在海中將你打破。你的資財、物件、貨物、水手、掌舵的、補縫的、經營交易的，並你中間的戰士和人民，在你破壞的日子必都沉在海中。你掌舵的呼號之聲一發，郊野都必震動。凡盪槳的和水手，並一切泛海掌舵的，都必下船登岸。他們必為你放聲痛哭，把塵土撒在頭上，在灰中打滾；又為你使頭上光禿，用麻布束腰，號咷痛哭，苦苦悲哀。他們哀號的時候，為你作起哀歌哀哭，說：有何城如泰爾？有何城如她在海中成為寂寞的呢？你由海上運出貨物，就使許多國民充足；你以許多資財、貨物使地上的君王豐富。你在深水中被海浪打破的時候，你的貨物和你中間的一切人民，就都沉下去了。

到第三天，他們又親手把船上的器具拋棄了。

跟隨大衛人中的惡人和匪類說：「這些人既然沒有和我們同去，我們所奪的財物就不分給他們，只將他們各人的妻子兒女給他們，使他們帶去就是了。」大衛說：「弟兄們，耶和華所賜給我們的，不可不分給他們；因為他保佑我們，將那攻擊我們的敵軍交在我們手裏。這事誰肯依從你們呢？上陣的得多少，看守器具的也得多少；應當大家平分。」
