敵人歟、爾舟之纜咸解矣、不能立桅、不得揚帆、其時奪獲貨財甚多、民以均分、跛者亦奪獲貨財、

她們說：「領兵的君王們逃亡了，逃亡了！留在家裡的女子也將分得戰利品

威嚴的耶和華就在那裡，是為了我們；那裡是一個江河廣闊、河道寬敞之地，其中沒有搖槳的艦船來往，也沒有威武的敵船經過

人收聚你們的掠物，好像螞蚱收聚莊稼；人向掠物猛衝而上，好像成群的蝗蟲向莊稼猛衝而上。

禍哉！你這未遭毀滅的毀滅者，未遭背信之事的背信者！你行完了毀滅，自己必遭毀滅；你做盡了背信之事，自己必遭背信之事。

水手們想離船逃生，就把救生艇放到海裡，卻假裝要從船頭拋錨。保羅對百夫長和士兵們說：「這些人如果不留在船上，你們就不能獲救。」於是士兵們就把救生艇的繩索砍斷，由它漂去。

大衛和四百人繼續追趕，那兩百個因疲乏不能渡過比梭溪谷的人就留在那裡。

於是他們砍斷了錨，把它們丟棄在海裡，同時鬆開舵繩，拉起了前帆，順著風向岸前進。但遇到海水夾流的地方，船就擱了淺，船頭被卡住，動彈不得，而船尾也開始被波浪的猛力衝散了。

第三天，他們又親手把船上的用具拋出去。

與大衛一起去的人中，所有的惡人和卑劣之徒都議論說：「既然他們沒有與我們一起去，就不要把我們奪取的戰利品分給他們。只讓他們把各自的妻子、兒女帶走。」但大衛說：「我的兄弟們，你們不可這樣處理耶和華所賜給我們的，他保守了我們，把那些來攻擊我們的匪徒交在我們手中。關於這事，誰會聽你們的呢？出戰的人怎樣得份，留下看守輜重的人也怎樣得份，要同等分配。」
