惟行義而言正、鄙視悖入之利、揮手不受賄賂、塞耳不聽流血之謀、閉目不睹邪惡之事、

惟彼善人、言信而行義、不取非義之利、不受賄賂、耳不聞殺伐之聲、目不睹怪僻之事、

行公義、言正直、厭棄訛詐之財、搖手不受賄賂、塞耳不欲聞害人之謀、閉目不忍見兇暴之事、

Those who walk righteously and speak what is right, who reject gain from extortion and keep their hands from accepting bribes, who stop their ears against plots of murder and shut their eyes against contemplating evil—

People must do what is right. They must be honest and tell the truth. They must not get rich by cheating others. Their hands must not receive money from those who want special favors. They must not let their ears listen to plans to commit murder. They must close their eyes to even thinking about doing what is evil.

He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, who despises the gain of oppressions, who shakes his hands, lest they hold a bribe, who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed and shuts his eyes from looking on evil,

Those who are honest and fair, who refuse to profit by fraud, who stay far away from bribes, who refuse to listen to those who plot murder, who shut their eyes to all enticement to do wrong—

The one who lives righteously and speaks rightly, who refuses profit from extortion, whose hand never takes a bribe, who stops his ears from listening to murderous plots and shuts his eyes against evil schemes—

One who walks righteously and speaks with integrity, One who rejects unjust gain And shakes his hands so that they hold no bribe; One who stops his ears from hearing about bloodshed And shuts his eyes from looking at evil;

He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from taking a bribe, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from looking upon evil:

The one who lives righteously and speaks rightly, who refuses gain from extortion, whose hand never takes a bribe, who stops his ears from listening to murderous plots and shuts his eyes to avoid endorsing evil—

He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;

The one who lives uprightly and speaks honestly; the one who refuses to profit from oppressive measures and rejects a bribe; the one who does not plot violent crimes and does not seek to harm others–

He who walks righteously and speaks blamelessly, he who despises the gain of oppressions, who gestures with his hands, refusing to take a bribe, who stops his ears from hearing of blood, and shuts his eyes from looking at evil—

Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, And revive me in Your way.

Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.

Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children.They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;but he was rebuked for his iniquity: a dumb donkey speaking with a man’s voice restrained the madness of the prophet.

Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill?He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart;

Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord,“ Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.”

Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.

And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money,saying,“ Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”But Peter said to him,“ Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money!You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God.Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity.”

You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality, nor take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.

The law of truth was in his mouth, And injustice was not found on his lips. He walked with Me in peace and equity, And turned many away from iniquity.

And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.

Then Abishai said to David,“ God has delivered your enemy into your hand this day. Now therefore, please, let me strike him at once with the spear, right to the earth; and I will not have to strike him a second time!”But David said to Abishai,“ Do not destroy him; for who can stretch out his hand against the Lord’s anointed, and be guiltless?”David said furthermore,“ As the Lord lives, the Lord shall strike him, or his day shall come to die, or he shall go out to battle and perish.The Lord forbid that I should stretch out my hand against the Lord’s anointed. But please, take now the spear and the jug of water that are by his head, and let us go.”

“ You shall not pervert the judgment of your poor in his dispute.Keep yourself far from a false matter; do not kill the innocent and righteous. For I will not justify the wicked.And you shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the discerning and perverts the words of the righteous.“ Also you shall not oppress a stranger, for you know the heart of a stranger, because you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.

Do not gather my soul with sinners, Nor my life with bloodthirsty men,In whose hands is a sinister scheme, And whose right hand is full of bribes.But as for me, I will walk in my integrity; Redeem me and be merciful to me.

Thus says the Lord:“ Keep justice, and do righteousness, For My salvation is about to come, And My righteousness to be revealed.Blessed is the man who does this, And the son of man who lays hold on it; Who keeps from defiling the Sabbath, And keeps his hand from doing any evil.”

Who has not eaten on the mountains, Nor lifted his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, Nor defiled his neighbor’s wife;Has not oppressed anyone, Nor withheld a pledge, Nor robbed by violence, But has given his bread to the hungry And covered the naked with clothing;Who has withdrawn his hand from the poor And not received usury or increase, But has executed My judgments And walked in My statutes— He shall not die for the iniquity of his father; He shall surely live!

“ If I have despised the cause of my male or female servant When they complained against me,What then shall I do when God rises up? When He punishes, how shall I answer Him?Did not He who made me in the womb make them? Did not the same One fashion us in the womb?“ If I have kept the poor from their desire, Or caused the eyes of the widow to fail,Or eaten my morsel by myself, So that the fatherless could not eat of it( But from my youth I reared him as a father, And from my mother’s womb I guided the widow);If I have seen anyone perish for lack of clothing, Or any poor man without covering;If his heart has not blessed me, And if he was not warmed with the fleece of my sheep;If I have raised my hand against the fatherless, When I saw I had help in the gate;Then let my arm fall from my shoulder, Let my arm be torn from the socket.For destruction from God is a terror to me, And because of His magnificence I cannot endure.“ If I have made gold my hope, Or said to fine gold,‘ You are my confidence’;If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great, And because my hand had gained much;

That they may successfully do evil with both hands— The prince asks for gifts, The judge seeks a bribe, And the great man utters his evil desire; So they scheme together.The best of them is like a brier; The most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge; The day of your watchman and your punishment comes; Now shall be their perplexity.

Then tax collectors also came to be baptized, and said to him,“ Teacher, what shall we do?”And he said to them,“ Collect no more than what is appointed for you.”Likewise the soldiers asked him, saying,“ And what shall we do?” So he said to them,“ Do not intimidate anyone or accuse falsely, and be content with your wages.”

Vindicate me, O Lord, For I have walked in my integrity. I have also trusted in the Lord; I shall not slip.Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; Try my mind and my heart.

He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully.He shall receive blessing from the Lord, And righteousness from the God of his salvation.

After serious thought, I rebuked the nobles and rulers, and said to them,“ Each of you is exacting usury from his brother.” So I called a great assembly against them.And I said to them,“ According to our ability we have redeemed our Jewish brethren who were sold to the nations. Now indeed, will you even sell your brethren? Or should they be sold to us?” Then they were silenced and found nothing to say.Then I said,“ What you are doing is not good. Should you not walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the nations, our enemies?I also, with my brethren and my servants, am lending them money and grain. Please, let us stop this usury!Restore now to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their olive groves, and their houses, also a hundredth of the money and the grain, the new wine and the oil, that you have charged them.”So they said,“ We will restore it, and will require nothing from them; we will do as you say.” Then I called the priests, and required an oath from them that they would do according to this promise.Then I shook out the fold of my garment and said,“ So may God shake out each man from his house, and from his property, who does not perform this promise. Even thus may he be shaken out and emptied.” And all the assembly said,“ Amen!” and praised the Lord. Then the people did according to this promise.

Then the men of David said to him,“ This is the day of which the Lord said to you,‘ Behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hand, that you may do to him as it seems good to you.’” And David arose and secretly cut off a corner of Saul’s robe.Now it happened afterward that David’s heart troubled him because he had cut Saul’s robe.And he said to his men,“ The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my master, the LORD’s anointed, to stretch out my hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the Lord.”So David restrained his servants with these words, and did not allow them to rise against Saul. And Saul got up from the cave and went on his way.

I have not sat with idolatrous mortals, Nor will I go in with hypocrites.I have hated the assembly of evildoers, And will not sit with the wicked.I will wash my hands in innocence; So I will go about Your altar, O Lord,

“ If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, Or lifted myself up when evil found him( Indeed I have not allowed my mouth to sin By asking for a curse on his soul);If the men of my tent have not said,‘ Who is there that has not been satisfied with his meat?’

Then Johanan the son of Kareah spoke secretly to Gedaliah in Mizpah, saying,“ Let me go, please, and I will kill Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no one will know it. Why should he murder you, so that all the Jews who are gathered to you would be scattered, and the remnant in Judah perish?”But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said to Johanan the son of Kareah,“ You shall not do this thing, for you speak falsely concerning Ishmael.”

‘ For among My people are found wicked men; They lie in wait as one who sets snares; They set a trap; They catch men.As a cage is full of birds, So their houses are full of deceit. Therefore they have become great and grown rich.They have grown fat, they are sleek; Yes, they surpass the deeds of the wicked; They do not plead the cause, The cause of the fatherless; Yet they prosper, And the right of the needy they do not defend.
