Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there.When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them.But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God.

Call your councils of war, but they will be worthless. Develop your strategies, but they will not succeed. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare.

O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.

My people will live in safety, quietly at home. They will be at rest.Even if the forest should be destroyed and the city torn down,
