For the land of my people in which thorns and briars will come up; Indeed, for all the joyful houses and for the jubilant city.

荆棘蒺藜必长在我百姓的地上，又长在欢乐的城中和一切快乐的房屋上。

刺草和荆棘要长在我百姓的田地上，长在欢乐城中一切快乐家园上。

為著我民那長荊棘和蒺藜之地，為著歡騰之城的一切歡樂之家，你們捶胸哀哭吧！

我民之田、歡娛之邑、喜樂之第、徧生荊棘蒺藜、

我民之田、斯邑之室、昔則欣然喜悅、今則荊棘叢生、

荊棘蒺藜、必叢生於我民之土地、生於喜樂城中一切可悅之宅第、

and for the land of my people, a land overgrown with thorns and briers— yes, mourn for all houses of merriment and for this city of revelry.

My people’s land is overgrown with thorns and bushes. Mourn for all the houses that were once filled with joy. Cry over this city that used to be full of wild parties.

for the soil of my people growing up in thorns and briers, yes, for all the joyous houses in the exultant city.

For your land will be overgrown with thorns and briers. Your joyful homes and happy towns will be gone.

for the ground of my people growing thorns and briers, indeed, for every joyous house in the jubilant city.

On the land of my people will come up thorns and briers, Yes, on all the happy homes in the joyous city;

Upon the land of my people shall come up thorns and briers; yea, upon all the houses of joy in the joyous city.

for the ground of my people growing thorns and briers, indeed, for every joyous house in the joyful city.

Upon the land of my people shall come up thorns[ and] briers; yea, upon all the houses of joy[ in] the joyous city:

Mourn over the land of my people, which is overgrown with thorns and briers, and over all the once- happy houses in the city filled with revelry.

Thorns and briers will come up on my people’s land; yes, on all the houses of joy in the joyous city.

You who were full of noise, You tumultuous town, you jubilant city; Your dead were not killed with the sword, Nor did they die in battle.

For behold, they will be gone because of destruction; Egypt will gather them together, Memphis will bury them. Weeds will take possession of their treasures of silver; Thorns will be in their tents.

Thorns will come up in its fortified towers, Weeds and thistles in its fortified cities; It will also be a haunt of jackals And a habitat of ostriches.

And it will come about on that day, that every place where there used to be a thousand vines, valued at a thousand shekels of silver, will become briars and thorns.

To the extent that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, to the same extent give her torment and mourning; for she says in her heart,‘ I sit as a queen and I am not a widow, and will never see mourning.’For this reason in one day her plagues will come, plague and mourning and famine, and she will be burned up with fire; for the Lord God who judges her is strong.

The Chaldeans also burned the king’s palace and the houses of the people with fire, and they tore down the walls of Jerusalem.

And a fruitful land into a salt waste, Because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it.

Therefore on that day the Lord God of armies called you to weeping, to wailing, To shaving the head, and to wearing sackcloth.Instead, there is joy and jubilation, Killing of cattle and slaughtering of sheep, Eating of meat and drinking of wine:“ Let’s eat and drink, for tomorrow we may die.”

I will lay it waste; It will not be pruned nor hoed, But briars and thorns will come up. I will also command the clouds not to rain on it.”

Then I said,“ Lord, how long?” And He answered,“ Until cities are devastated and without inhabitant, Houses are without people And the land is utterly desolate,

Also the high places of Aven, the sin of Israel, will be destroyed; Thorns and thistles will grow on their altars; Then they will say to the mountains,“ Cover us!” And to the hills,“ Fall on us!”
