歷有年餘、無慮之婦、必將驚擾、因葡萄無所獲、穀實無可收、

歲序既周、葡萄不實、五穀不登、安居之女、因以殷憂、

時越年餘、爾無慮者必戰慄、蓋無葡萄可摘、無禾稼禾稼或作果可收、

In little more than a year you who feel secure will tremble; the grape harvest will fail, and the harvest of fruit will not come.

You feel secure now. But in a little over a year you will tremble with fear. The grape harvest will fail. There won’t be any fruit.

In little more than a year you will shudder, you complacent women; for the grape harvest fails, the fruit harvest will not come.

In a short time— just a little more than a year— you careless ones will suddenly begin to care. For your fruit crops will fail, and the harvest will never take place.

Within a year and a few days You will be troubled, you complacent daughters; For the vintage is ended, And the fruit gathering will not come.

He has laid waste My vine, And ruined My fig tree; He has stripped it bare and thrown it away; Its branches are made white.

The new wine fails, the vine languishes, All the merry-hearted sigh.The mirth of the tambourine ceases, The noise of the jubilant ends, The joy of the harp ceases.They shall not drink wine with a song; Strong drink is bitter to those who drink it.The city of confusion is broken down; Every house is shut up, so that none may go in.There is a cry for wine in the streets, All joy is darkened, The mirth of the land is gone.In the city desolation is left, And the gate is stricken with destruction.

For the children of Israel shall abide many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillar, without ephod or teraphim.

“ And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees, Of which she has said,‘ These are my wages that my lovers have given me.’ So I will make them a forest, And the beasts of the field shall eat them.

Therefore their goods shall become booty, And their houses a desolation; They shall build houses, but not inhabit them; They shall plant vineyards, but not drink their wine.”

The vine has dried up, And the fig tree has withered; The pomegranate tree, The palm tree also, And the apple tree— All the trees of the field are withered; Surely joy has withered away from the sons of men.

Gladness is taken away, And joy from the plentiful field; In the vineyards there will be no singing, Nor will there be shouting; No treaders will tread out wine in the presses; I have made their shouting cease.

Therefore the Lord will strike with a scab The crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, And the Lord will uncover their secret parts.”In that day the Lord will take away the finery: The jingling anklets, the scarves, and the crescents;The pendants, the bracelets, and the veils;The headdresses, the leg ornaments, and the headbands; The perfume boxes, the charms,and the rings; The nose jewels,the festal apparel, and the mantles; The outer garments, the purses,and the mirrors; The fine linen, the turbans, and the robes.And so it shall be: Instead of a sweet smell there will be a stench; Instead of a sash, a rope; Instead of well-set hair, baldness; Instead of a rich robe, a girding of sackcloth; And branding instead of beauty.Your men shall fall by the sword, And your mighty in the war.Her gates shall lament and mourn, And she being desolate shall sit on the ground.

And now, please let Me tell you what I will do to My vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it shall be burned; And break down its wall, and it shall be trampled down.I will lay it waste; It shall not be pruned or dug, But there shall come up briers and thorns. I will also command the clouds That they rain no rain on it.”

Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones and the light of the lamp.And this whole land shall be a desolation and an astonishment, and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls—
