“ Assyria will fall by no human sword; a sword, not of mortals, will devour them. They will flee before the sword and their young men will be put to forced labor.

The Lord says,“ The Assyrians will be killed by swords. But the swords that kill them will not be used by human beings. The Assyrians will run away from those swords. But their young men will be caught and forced to work hard.

“ And the Assyrian shall fall by a sword, not of man; and a sword, not of man, shall devour him; and he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be put to forced labor.

“ The Assyrians will be destroyed, but not by the swords of men. The sword of God will strike them, and they will panic and flee. The strong young Assyrians will be taken away as captives.

Then Assyria will fall, but not by human sword; a sword will devour him, but not one made by man. He will flee from the sword; his young men will be put to forced labor.

And the Assyrian will fall by a sword not wielded by a man, And a sword not of man will devour him. So he will not escape the sword, And his young men will become forced laborers.

亞述軍至我地、陟我岡、我必覆亡之、蹂躪之、脫民於苛役、去民之重軛、

以靜逸為可嘉、以土壤為美觀、仔肩而負荷、入貢以服役。

我為己榮、亦為我僕大闢故、將扞衛此城、加以援手、我耶和華所言如此。是夕耶和華之使者、出在亞述營、擊其士卒十八萬五千、詰朝、惟見尸骸而已。亞述王西拿基立遂撒其營、歸尼尼微、值崇拜於其上帝溺落之殿、其子亞得米勒、沙哩斯弒之、遁於亞喇臘國、更有一子。以撒哈頓繼位。

異邦之人、強暴特甚、猝然遁逃、猶之塵埃、無異糠秕。

故萬有之主將使肥健之人、變為瘦瘠、尊榮之輩、爇以烈火、以色列族至聖之主、輝光遠燭、勢若焰火、一日間必毀亞述人、若焚荊棘、茂林良田、俱遭焚燬、中有餘木、其數惟寡、小子可稽察之、亞述王身必喪、命必絕、如病者之漸痿、

耶和華遣使至亞述王營壘、滅諸勁旅、與武士長、亞述王恥之、遄歸故土、入其上帝殿、為子所弒。

耶和華自遠而來、震怒特甚、勢不能遏、口吐氣燄、猶之火炬、若水汎濫、幾將滅頂、將降罰於列邦、若以箕簸揚、導之以歧途、若以勒拑口、以色列族之上帝耶和華使民遄歸、詣彼聖岡、則爾將謳歌、若讌宴連宵、欣喜歡忭、若聽簫遨遊、耶和華震怒諸敵、勢若烈火、颶風雨雹、行潦驟至、霹靂遙聞、異跡立見、昔亞述人擊民、耶和華必以雷殛之、昔耶和華以亞述人為杖箠、以擊斯民、厥後亞述之人、戰鬥敗績、民將鼓琴彈瑟不已、自古以來、欲罰亞述國王在彼陀法、為備坎阱、其深無量、其廣無垠、積薪無數、望之若臺、焚之以火、耶和華之氣若硫磺、使烈燄四熾焉。

主曰、我降災於郇山、及耶路撒冷、既畢其事、我必伐亞述王、汰其驕心、去其抑視。

我萬有之主耶和華、赫兮煊兮、伐其巨枝、折其雄幹、使高者降為卑、持其斧斤、斬其林木、使豪傑之士盡斫利巴嫩之樹。

我將矜憫猶大家、非以弓刃戰鬥車騎救援、乃以我能拯之、

我將聳動其心、使聞一事、即歸故土、而殞於刃、
