亞述人將殞沒、非人禍之也、彼必遁逃、若避利刃、彼之丁壯、淪胥以亡、

亞述將遭殞滅、非以人之刀、將被殺戮、非以人之劍、必因此刀劍遁逃、彼之丁壯、俱必消亡、俱必消亡或作必服他邦而納貢

“ Assyria will fall by no human sword; a sword, not of mortals, will devour them. They will flee before the sword and their young men will be put to forced labor.

The Lord says,“ The Assyrians will be killed by swords. But the swords that kill them will not be used by human beings. The Assyrians will run away from those swords. But their young men will be caught and forced to work hard.

“ And the Assyrian shall fall by a sword, not of man; and a sword, not of man, shall devour him; and he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be put to forced labor.

“ The Assyrians will be destroyed, but not by the swords of men. The sword of God will strike them, and they will panic and flee. The strong young Assyrians will be taken away as captives.

Then Assyria will fall, but not by human sword; a sword will devour him, but not one made by man. He will flee from the sword; his young men will be put to forced labor.

And the Assyrian will fall by a sword not wielded by a man, And a sword not of man will devour him. So he will not escape the sword, And his young men will become forced laborers.

“ Then Assyria shall fall by a sword not of man, And a sword not of mankind shall devour him. But he shall flee from the sword, And his young men shall become forced labor.

他見安居之處美好，見那地令人喜悅，就屈肩負重，成為服苦役的奴僕。

要知道，我必為自己的緣故和我僕人大衛的緣故，保護拯救這城。』」於是耶和華的使者出去，在亞述的營中擊殺了十八萬五千人；清早人們起來，看哪，所見的都是死屍！亞述王西納基立就拔營回去，住在尼尼微。有一天，西納基立在自己的神尼斯洛的廟裡下拜，他的兒子亞得米勒和沙利色用刀殺了他，然後逃到亞拉臘地。他的兒子以撒哈頓接替他作王。

然而，你成群的外敵必變得像細小的灰塵，那些成群的強橫者必像被吹散的糠秕。

因此，主萬軍之耶和華必使衰敗臨到亞述王肥壯的勇士；在亞述王的榮耀之下，必有火燃起，如同烈火燃燒。以色列的光必成為火，他的聖者必成為烈焰，一日之內就把亞述王的荊棘和蒺藜焚燒吞噬；亞述王樹林和果園的榮美必全然滅絕，好像病重的人消逝那樣。林中所殘餘的樹，少得連孩子也能記下來。

看哪，有威名的耶和華從遠方而來！他的怒氣燃燒，濃煙上騰；他的嘴唇充滿憤怒，他的舌頭像吞噬的烈火；他的氣息如漫溢的河水，直漲到頸項；他要用毀滅的篩把列國篩淨，又在眾民的臉頰套上使他們迷失的轡頭。你們卻會歌唱，像守聖節的夜晚那樣；並會心裡喜樂，像人伴著笛聲行走，上耶和華的山，到以色列的磐石那裡。耶和華必使人聽見他威嚴的聲音，又以猛烈的怒氣、吞噬的火焰、暴雨、狂風和石頭般的冰雹，使人看見他掄下來的膀臂。亞述人必因耶和華的聲音而喪膽，耶和華必用杖擊打他們；耶和華施刑的杖每打他們一下，人都會擊鼓和彈琴；打仗的時候，耶和華必揮手與他們爭戰。原來，那焚燒場早已安排好了，是為君王所預備的；它又深又寬，其中充滿了火和許多木柴；耶和華的氣息如同一股硫磺火使它燃燒起來。

當主完成了針對錫安山和耶路撒冷的一切工作時，他必說：「我要懲罰亞述王心思自大的作為和眼目高傲的虛誇。」

看哪！主萬軍之耶和華將以震撼之力削去樹枝；高聳的必被砍下，高大的必被伐倒；樹林中的密叢，他必用鐵器砍掉；黎巴嫩必因威嚴的那一位而倒下。

看哪！我要把一個靈放入亞述王裡面，讓他一聽見傳來的風聲就返回本土；我必使他在那裡倒在刀下。』」
