But the Egyptians are mere mortals and not God; their horses are flesh and not spirit. When the Lord stretches out his hand, those who help will stumble, those who are helped will fall; all will perish together.

The men of Egypt are only human beings. They aren’t God. Their horses are only flesh and blood. They aren’t spirits. The Lord will reach out his powerful hand to punish everyone. The Egyptians provide help. But they will be tripped up. The people of Judah receive the help. But they will fall down. All of them will be destroyed.

The Egyptians are man, and not God, and their horses are flesh, and not spirit. When the Lord stretches out his hand, the helper will stumble, and he who is helped will fall, and they will all perish together.

For these Egyptians are mere humans, not God! Their horses are puny flesh, not mighty spirits! When the Lord raises his fist against them, those who help will stumble, and those being helped will fall. They will all fall down and die together.

故此他們的壯丁、主不喜歡，他們的孤兒寡婦、主不憐憫；因為各人都是不拜上帝、作壞事的，各人的口都說着愚昧的話。雖有這一切，永恆主的怒氣還未轉消；他的手仍然伸着。

在殺你者面前你還能說：「我是神」麼？在刺殺你者手中你不過是人，並不是神呀。

『主永恆主發神諭說：我指着永活的我來起誓，我一定要用大能的手和伸出的膀臂、並傾倒出的烈怒作王治理你們。我要用大能的手、和伸出的膀臂、並傾倒出的烈怒、將你們從外族之民中領出來，將你們從分散到的列邦聚集攏來。

永恆主發神諭說：你擯棄了我，直轉身退後；因此我伸手攻擊你，殺滅你：我憐恤到不耐煩了。

若不是他們的磐石把他們交付出來，若不是永恆主把他們送交給我們，我們一人怎能追趕他們千人呢？我們兩個人怎能使他們萬人逃跑呢？連我們的仇敵自己也評判：他們的磐石不如我們的磐石。

民眾喊叫說：『是神的聲音，不是人的聲音哪！』主的使者立時擊打希律，因為他不將榮耀歸與上帝，他被蟲子咬，就氣絕了。

但他們都必因無益的族民而慚愧；那族民帶來的並不是幫助，也不是益處，只是慚愧與羞辱而已。』

不要倚靠王子，不要依靠世人，他一點也不能救助。他氣一斷，就回歸塵土；他所打算的、當天就消滅。以雅各之上帝為助力，專仰望永恆主他的上帝的，這人有福啊！

若不然，你怎能使我主上最小的臣僕之中之一個軍長轉臉而逃呢？你竟倚靠埃及要得戰車和駿馬呀！

因為埃及的幫助是徒然而空洞的；故此我稱牠為「坐而不動的拉哈伯」。

靠馬得勝是妄想；王並不能因軍兵多而蒙搭救。

你看，你依靠這壓傷的蘆葦扶杖，依靠埃及；人若依賴它，這東西就刺進他手掌，把他刺透。埃及王法老對一切倚靠他的人就是這樣。

那敵對者、那高抬自己、超高一切稱為神或受人崇拜者，甚至坐在上帝之殿堂裏、自稱為神的。我還在你們那裏的時候、就屢次把這些事告訴了你們，你們不記得麼？並且那現今抑制着他、使他到適當時機才顯露出來的、是甚麼、你們也知道。那不法之「祕密」是已在運用動力的。不過這必須等那現在還抑制他的從中間被處置了，然後那不法者才顯露出來。主耶穌必用他口中的氣殺掉他，用他御臨之顯現消滅他。

『永恆主以色列之上帝這麼說：猶大王打發了你們來求問我，你們要對他這麼說：「看吧，法老的軍隊、那出來幫助你們的，必回埃及它本地去。迦勒底人必再來攻擊這城；將城攻取，放火焚燒。永恆主這麼說：你們不要自己欺騙自己說：『迦勒底人一定會離開我們』；他們是不離開的。就使你們擊敗了那攻擊你們的迦勒底人全軍，其中只剩下一些被刺重傷的人，他們也會各從自己的帳棚裏起來，放火焚燒這城的。」』

永恆主啊，求你設立「恐怖」以臨他們；願外國人知道自己不過是人。（細拉）
