But the Egyptians are mere mortals and not God; their horses are flesh and not spirit. When the Lord stretches out his hand, those who help will stumble, those who are helped will fall; all will perish together.

The men of Egypt are only human beings. They aren’t God. Their horses are only flesh and blood. They aren’t spirits. The Lord will reach out his powerful hand to punish everyone. The Egyptians provide help. But they will be tripped up. The people of Judah receive the help. But they will fall down. All of them will be destroyed.

For these Egyptians are mere humans, not God! Their horses are puny flesh, not mighty spirits! When the Lord raises his fist against them, those who help will stumble, and those being helped will fall. They will all fall down and die together.

As I live— the declaration of the Lord GOD— I will reign over you with a strong hand, an outstretched arm, and outpoured wrath.I will bring you from the peoples and gather you from the countries where you were scattered, with a strong hand, an outstretched arm, and outpoured wrath.

You have left me.” This is the LORD’s declaration.“ You have turned your back, so I have stretched out my hand against you and destroyed you. I am tired of showing compassion.

How could one pursue a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had given them up?But their“ rock” is not like our Rock, as even our enemies concede.

The assembled people began to shout,“ It’s the voice of a god and not of a man!”At once an angel of the Lord struck him because he did not give the glory to God, and he was eaten by worms and died.

everyone will be ashamed because of a people who can’t help. They are of no benefit, they are no help; they are good for nothing but shame and disgrace.

Do not trust in nobles, in a son of man, who cannot save.When his breath leaves him, he returns to the ground; on that day his plans die.Happy is the one whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God,

How then can you drive back a single officer among the least of my master’s servants? How can you rely on Egypt for chariots and horsemen?

Egypt’s help is completely worthless; therefore, I call her: Rahab Who Just Sits.

The horse is a false hope for safety; it provides no escape by its great power.

Look, you are relying on Egypt, that splintered reed of a staff that will pierce the hand of anyone who grabs it and leans on it. This is how Pharaoh king of Egypt is to all who rely on him.

He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he sits in God’s temple, proclaiming that he himself is God.Don’t you remember that when I was still with you I used to tell you about this?And you know what currently restrains him, so that he will be revealed in his time.For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work, but the one now restraining will do so until he is out of the way,and then the lawless one will be revealed. The Lord Jesus will destroy him with the breath of his mouth and will bring him to nothing at the appearance of his coming.

“ This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: This is what you will say to Judah’s king, who is sending you to inquire of me:‘ Watch: Pharaoh’s army, which has come out to help you, is going to return to its own land of Egypt.The Chaldeans will then return and fight against this city. They will capture it and burn it.This is what the LORD says: Don’t deceive yourselves by saying,“ The Chaldeans will leave us for good,” for they will not leave.Indeed, if you were to strike down the entire Chaldean army that is fighting with you, and there remained among them only the badly wounded men, each in his tent, they would get up and burn this city.’”

Put terror in them, LORD; let the nations know they are only humans. Selah
