人往埃及、求其助己、見車馬眾多、驍騎勇猛、則以之是恃、不恃以色列族之聖主耶和華而求其眷祐、其禍必不遠矣、

下伊及求助、倚賴戰馬、因車乘眾多而恃之、馬卒甚強而賴之、不仰望以色列之聖主、不祈求主、是人也、禍哉禍哉、

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the Lord.

How terrible it will be for those who go down to Egypt for help! How terrible for those who depend on horses! They trust in how many chariots they have. They trust in how strong their horsemen are. But they don’t look to the Holy One of Israel. They don’t ask the Lord for his help.

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses, who trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or consult the Lord!

What sorrow awaits those who look to Egypt for help, trusting their horses, chariots, and charioteers and depending on the strength of human armies instead of looking to the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.

Those who go down to Egypt for help are as good as dead, those who rely on war horses, and trust in Egypt’s many chariots and in their many, many horsemen. But they do not rely on the Holy One of Israel and do not seek help from the LORD.

The king, moreover, must not acquire great numbers of horses for himself or make the people return to Egypt to get more of them, for the Lord has told you,“ You are not to go back that way again.” (niv)

You said,‘ No, we will flee on horses.’ Therefore you will flee! You said,‘ We will ride off on swift horses.’ Therefore your pursuers will be swift! (niv)

Look, I know you are depending on Egypt, that splintered reed of a staff, which pierces the hand of anyone who leans on it! Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who depend on him. (niv)

No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength.A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save. (niv)

Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come on us, yet we have not sought the favor of the Lord our God by turning from our sins and giving attention to your truth. (niv)

How then can you repulse one officer of the least of my master’s officials, even though you are depending on Egypt for chariots and horsemen? (niv)

But the people have not returned to him who struck them, nor have they sought the Lord Almighty. (niv)

But the king rebelled against him by sending his envoys to Egypt to get horses and a large army. Will he succeed? Will he who does such things escape? Will he break the treaty and yet escape? (niv)

Woe to them, because they have strayed from me! Destruction to them, because they have rebelled against me! I long to redeem them but they speak about me falsely.They do not cry out to me from their hearts but wail on their beds. They slash themselves, appealing to their gods for grain and new wine, but they turn away from me.I trained them and strengthened their arms, but they plot evil against me.They do not turn to the Most High; they are like a faulty bow. Their leaders will fall by the sword because of their insolent words. For this they will be ridiculed in the land of Egypt. (niv)

You went to Molek with olive oil and increased your perfumes. You sent your ambassadors far away; you descended to the very realm of the dead! (niv)
