Assyria will be shattered by the voice of the LORD. He will strike with a rod.

昔亞述人擊民、耶和華必以雷殛之、

亞述必因主之雷聲喪膽、主必以杖加之譴責、

The voice of the Lord will shatter Assyria; with his rod he will strike them down.

The voice of the Lord will tear the Assyrians apart. He will strike them down with his scepter.

The Assyrians will be terror-stricken at the voice of the Lord, when he strikes with his rod.

At the Lord’s command, the Assyrians will be shattered. He will strike them down with his royal scepter.

For at the voice of the Lord Assyria will be terrified, When He strikes with the rod.

For through the voice of the Lord Assyria will be beaten down, As He strikes with the rod.

For through the voice of Jehovah shall the Assyrian be dismayed; with his rod will he smite him.

Assyria will be shattered by the voice of the Lord. He will strike with a rod.

For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down,[ which] smote with a rod.

Indeed, the LORD’s shout will shatter Assyria; he will beat them with a club.

For through Yahweh’s voice the Assyrian will be dismayed. He will strike him with his rod.

but he will judge the poor righteously and execute justice for the oppressed of the land. He will strike the land with a scepter from his mouth, and he will kill the wicked with a command from his lips.

Woe to Assyria, the rod of my anger— the staff in their hands is my wrath.

For you have shattered their oppressive yoke and the rod on their shoulders, the staff of their oppressor, just as you did on the day of Midian.

But as for those who turn aside to crooked ways, the LORD will banish them with the evildoers. Peace be with Israel.

Does an ax exalt itself above the one who chops with it? Does a saw magnify itself above the one who saws with it? It would be like a rod waving the ones who lift it! It would be like a staff lifting the one who isn’t wood!

He will be their peace. When Assyria invades our land, when it marches against our fortresses, we will raise against it seven shepherds, even eight leaders of men.They will shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword, the land of Nimrod with a drawn blade. So he will rescue us from Assyria when it invades our land, when it marches against our territory.

Rise up, LORD! Confront him; bring him down. With your sword, save me from the wicked.With your hand, LORD, save me from men, from men of the world whose portion is in this life: You fill their bellies with what you have in store; their sons are satisfied, and they leave their surplus to their children.

Therefore, the Lord GOD of Armies says this:“ My people who dwell in Zion, do not fear Assyria, though they strike you with a rod and raise their staff over you as the Egyptians did.

For a remnant will go out from Jerusalem, and survivors from Mount Zion. The zeal of the LORD of Armies will accomplish this.’“ Therefore, this is what the LORD says about the king of Assyria: He will not enter this city, shoot an arrow here, come before it with a shield, or build up a siege ramp against it.He will go back the way he came, and he will not enter this city. This is the LORD’s declaration.I will defend this city and rescue it for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.”Then the angel of the LORD went out and struck down one hundred eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians. When the people got up the next morning, there were all the dead bodies!So King Sennacherib of Assyria broke camp and left. He returned home and lived in Nineveh.One day, while he was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer struck him down with the sword and escaped to the land of Ararat. Then his son Esar-haddon became king in his place.

But when the Lord finishes all his work against Mount Zion and Jerusalem, he will say,“ I will punish the king of Assyria for his arrogant acts and the proud look in his eyes.”

And the LORD will make the splendor of his voice heard and reveal his arm striking in angry wrath and a flame of consuming fire, in driving rain, a torrent, and hailstones.
