For this reason the LORD is ready to show you mercy; he sits on his throne, ready to have compassion on you. Indeed, the LORD is a just God; all who wait for him in faith will be blessed.

Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!

But the Lord wants to have mercy on you. So he will rise up to give you his tender love. The Lord is a God who is always fair. Blessed are all those who wait for him to act!

Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.

So the Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help.

Therefore the LORD is waiting to show you mercy, and is rising up to show you compassion, for the LORD is a just God. All who wait patiently for him are happy.

Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.

Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.

And therefore will Jehovah wait, that he may be gracious unto you; and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for Jehovah is a God of justice; blessed are all they that wait for him.

Therefore the Lord is waiting to show you mercy, and is rising up to show you compassion, for the Lord is a just God. All who wait patiently for Him are happy.

And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD[ is] a God of judgment: blessed[ are] all they that wait for him.

Therefore Yahweh will wait, that he may be gracious to you; and therefore he will be exalted, that he may have mercy on you, for Yahweh is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who wait for him.

The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some regard slowness, but is being patient toward you, because he does not wish for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

The LORD is good to those who trust in him, to the one who seeks him.It is good to wait patiently for deliverance from the LORD.

The one who deals wisely in a matter will find success, and blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD.

And regard the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as also our dear brother Paul wrote to you, according to the wisdom given to him,

I will wait patiently for the LORD, who has rejected the family of Jacob; I will wait for him.

At that time they will say,“ Look, here is our God! We waited for him and he delivered us. Here is the LORD! We waited for him. Let’s rejoice and celebrate his deliverance!”

Taste and see that the LORD is good! How blessed is the one who takes shelter in him!

The LORD is exalted, indeed, he lives in heaven; he fills Zion with justice and fairness.

The LORD deserves praise, for he has heard my plea for mercy!The LORD strengthens and protects me; I trust in him with all my heart. I am rescued and my heart is full of joy; I will sing to him in gratitude.

But what if God, willing to demonstrate his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience the objects of wrath prepared for destruction?

So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still a long way from home his father saw him, and his heart went out to him; he ran and hugged his son and kissed him.

The LORD who commands armies will be exalted when he punishes, the sovereign God’s authority will be recognized when he judges.

So then, exalted to the right hand of God, and having received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, he has poured out what you both see and hear.For David did not ascend into heaven, but he himself says,‘ The Lord said to my lord,“ Sit at my right handuntil I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”’Therefore let all the house of Israel know beyond a doubt that God has made this Jesus whom you crucified both Lord and Christ.”Now when they heard this, they were acutely distressed and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles,“ What should we do, brothers?”Peter said to them,“ Repent, and each one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.For the promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.”

Don’t keep speaking so arrogantly, letting proud talk come out of your mouth! For the LORD is a God who knows; he evaluates what people do.

“ Indeed, my plans are not like your plans, and my deeds are not like your deeds,

My blessing is on those people who trust in me, who put their confidence in me.

I relied completely on the LORD, and he turned toward me and heard my cry for help.He lifted me out of the watery pit, out of the slimy mud. He placed my feet on a rock and gave me secure footing.He gave me reason to sing a new song, praising our God. May many see what God has done, so that they might swear allegiance to him and trust in the LORD!

The bravehearted were plundered; they“ fell asleep.” All the warriors were helpless.At the sound of your battle cry, O God of Jacob, both rider and horse“ fell asleep.”You are awesome! Yes, you! Who can withstand your intense anger?From heaven you announced what their punishment would be. The earth was afraid and silentwhen God arose to execute judgment, and to deliver all the oppressed of the earth.( Selah)Certainly your angry judgment upon men will bring you praise; you reveal your anger in full measure.

He says,“ Stop your striving and recognize that I am God! I will be exalted over the nations! I will be exalted over the earth!”The LORD who commands armies is on our side! The God of Jacob is our protector!( Selah)

A Canaanite woman from that area came and cried out,“ Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is horribly demon- possessed!”But he did not answer her a word. Then his disciples came and begged him,“ Send her away, because she keeps on crying out after us.”So he answered,“ I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”But she came and bowed down before him and said,“ Lord, help me!”“ It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs,” he said.“ Yes, Lord,” she replied,“ but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.”Then Jesus answered her,“ Woman, your faith is great! Let what you want be done for you.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.

Give sincere homage! Otherwise he will be angry, and you will die because of your behavior, when his anger quickly ignites. How blessed are all who take shelter in him!

Wasn’t it necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and enter into his glory?”Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them the things written about himself in all the scriptures.

O LORD WHO RULES OVER ALL, how blessed are those who trust in you!

Now the law came in so that the transgression may increase, but where sin increased, grace multiplied all the more,

God exalted him to his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with endurance.In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how we should pray, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings.And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes on behalf of the saints according to God’s will.And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose,

As for the Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are just. He is a reliable God who is never unjust, he is fair and upright.

There is no other God like you! You forgive sin and pardon the rebellion of those who remain among your people. You do not remain angry forever, but delight in showing loyal love.You will once again have mercy on us; you will conquer our evil deeds; you will hurl our sins into the depths of the sea.You will be loyal to Jacob and extend your loyal love to Abraham, which you promised on oath to our ancestors in ancient times.

I have indeed heard the people of Israel say mournfully,‘ We were like a calf untrained to the yoke. You disciplined us and we learned from it. Let us come back to you and we will do so, for you are the LORD our God.For after we turned away from you we repented. After we came to our senses we beat our breasts in sorrow. We are ashamed and humiliated because of the disgraceful things we did previously.’Indeed, the people of Israel are my dear children. They are the children I take delight in. For even though I must often rebuke them, I still remember them with fondness. So I am deeply moved with pity for them and will surely have compassion on them. I, the LORD, affirm it!

This power he exercised in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realmsfar above every rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.And God put all things under Christ’s feet, and he gave him to the church as head over all things.Now the church is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

Patiently wait for God alone, my soul! For he is the one who gives me confidence.He alone is my protector and deliverer. He is my refuge; I will not be upended.God delivers me and exalts me; God is my strong protector and my shelter.Trust in him at all times, you people! Pour out your hearts before him! God is our shelter!( Selah)

Think of how we regard as blessed those who have endured. You have heard of Job’s endurance and you have seen the Lord’s purpose, that the Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

that he lavished on us in all wisdom and insight.

Now there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon who was righteous and devout, looking for the restoration of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

For God alone I patiently wait; he is the one who delivers me.He alone is my protector and deliverer. He is my refuge; I will not be upended.

to the praise of the glory of his grace that he has freely bestowed on us in his dearly loved Son.

You have wearied the LORD with your words. But you say,“ How have we wearied him?” Because you say,“ Everyone who does evil is good in the Lord’s opinion, and he delights in them,” or“ Where is the God of justice?”

How much less, then, when you say that you do not perceive him, that the case is before him and you are waiting for him!

Now we know that God’s judgment is in accordance with truth against those who practice such things.And do you think, whoever you are, when you judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself, that you will escape God’s judgment?Or do you have contempt for the wealth of his kindness, forbearance, and patience, and yet do not know that God’s kindness leads you to repentance?But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath for yourselves in the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment is revealed!He will reward each one according to his works:eternal life to those who by perseverance in good works seek glory and honor and immortality,but wrath and anger to those who live in selfish ambition and do not obey the truth but follow unrighteousness.There will be affliction and distress on everyone who does evil, on the Jew first and also the Greek,but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, for the Jew first and also the Greek.

Rely on the LORD! Be strong and confident! Rely on the LORD!

How can I give you up, O Ephraim? How can I surrender you, O Israel? How can I treat you like Admah? How can I make you like Zeboiim? I have had a change of heart! All my tender compassions are aroused!I cannot carry out my fierce anger! I cannot totally destroy Ephraim! Because I am God, and not man– the Holy One among you– I will not come in wrath!

Then I will return again to my lair until they have suffered their punishment. Then they will seek me; in their distress they will earnestly seek me.“ Come on! Let’s return to the LORD! He himself has torn us to pieces, but he will heal us! He has injured us, but he will bandage our wounds!He will restore us in a very short time; he will heal us in a little while, so that we may live in his presence.

The LORD passed by before him and proclaimed:“ The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, and abounding in loyal love and faithfulness,

But those who wait for the LORD’s help find renewed strength; they rise up as if they had eagles’ wings, they run without growing weary, they walk without getting tired.

When Jonah began to enter the city one day’s walk, he announced,“ At the end of forty days, Nineveh will be overthrown!”The people of Nineveh believed in God, and they declared a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them.When the news reached the king of Nineveh, he got up from his throne, took off his royal robe, put on sackcloth, and sat on ashes.He issued a proclamation and said,“ In Nineveh, by the decree of the king and his nobles: No human or animal, cattle or sheep, is to taste anything; they must not eat and they must not drink water.Every person and animal must put on sackcloth and must cry earnestly to God, and everyone must turn from their evil way of living and from the violence that they do.Who knows? Perhaps God might be willing to change his mind and relent and turn from his fierce anger so that we might not die.”When God saw their actions– they turned from their evil way of living!– God relented concerning the judgment he had threatened them with and he did not destroy them.

The way of the righteous is level, the path of the righteous that you make is straight.Yes, as your judgments unfold, O LORD, we wait for you. We desire your fame and reputation to grow.

“ Here is my servant whom I support, my chosen one in whom I take pleasure. I have placed my spirit on him; he will make just decrees for the nations.He will not cry out or shout; he will not publicize himself in the streets.A crushed reed he will not break, a dim wick he will not extinguish; he will faithfully make just decrees.He will not grow dim or be crushed before establishing justice on the earth; the coastlands will wait in anticipation for his decrees.”

Correct us, LORD, but only in due measure. Do not punish us in anger or you will reduce us to nothing.Vent your anger on the nations that do not acknowledge you. Vent it on the peoples who do not worship you. For they have destroyed the people of Jacob. They have completely destroyed them and left their homeland in utter ruin.

However, in the future I will allure her; I will lead her back into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her.

For he says to Moses:“ I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”So then, it does not depend on human desire or exertion, but on God who shows mercy.For the scripture says to Pharaoh:“ For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may demonstrate my power in you, and that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth.”So then, God has mercy on whom he chooses to have mercy, and he hardens whom he chooses to harden.

But I will keep watching for the LORD; I will wait for the God who delivers me. My God will hear my lament.My enemies, do not gloat over me! Though I have fallen, I will get up. Though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light.I must endure the LORD’s anger, for I have sinned against him. But then he will defend my cause, and accomplish justice on my behalf. He will lead me out into the light; I will experience firsthand his deliverance.

“ I have been inactive for a long time; I kept quiet and held back. Like a woman in labor I groan; I pant and gasp.

I was angry because of their sinful greed; I attacked them and angrily rejected them, yet they remained disobedient and stubborn.I have seen their behavior, but I will heal them and give them rest, and I will once again console those who mourn.

The king is strong; he loves justice. You ensure that legal decisions will be made fairly; you promote justice and equity in Jacob.

“ Now I will rise up,” says the LORD.“ Now I will exalt myself; now I will magnify myself.You conceive straw, you give birth to chaff; your breath is a fire that destroys you.The nations will be burned to ashes; like thorn bushes that have been cut down, they will be set on fire.

For this is what the LORD has told me:“ I will wait and watch from my place, like scorching heat produced by the sunlight, like a cloud of mist in the heat of harvest.”
