Therefore the LORD is waiting to show you mercy, and is rising up to show you compassion, for the LORD is a just God. All who wait patiently for him are happy.

Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!

But the Lord wants to have mercy on you. So he will rise up to give you his tender love. The Lord is a God who is always fair. Blessed are all those who wait for him to act!

Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.

So the Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help.

Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.

Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.

And therefore will Jehovah wait, that he may be gracious unto you; and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for Jehovah is a God of justice; blessed are all they that wait for him.

For this reason the LORD is ready to show you mercy; he sits on his throne, ready to have compassion on you. Indeed, the LORD is a just God; all who wait for him in faith will be blessed.

Therefore Yahweh will wait, that he may be gracious to you; and therefore he will be exalted, that he may have mercy on you, for Yahweh is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who wait for him.

The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.

The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the person who seeks him.It is good to wait quietly for salvation from the LORD.

The one who understands a matter finds success, and the one who trusts in the LORD will be happy.

Also, regard the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our dear brother Paul has written to you according to the wisdom given to him.

I will wait for the LORD, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob. I will wait for him.

On that day it will be said,“ Look, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he has saved us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him. Let’s rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”

Taste and see that the LORD is good. How happy is the person who takes refuge in him!

The LORD is exalted, for he dwells on high; he has filled Zion with justice and righteousness.

Blessed be the LORD, for he has heard the sound of my pleading.The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart celebrates, and I give thanks to him with my song.

And what if God, wanting to display his wrath and to make his power known, endured with much patience objects of wrath prepared for destruction?

So he got up and went to his father. But while the son was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion. He ran, threw his arms around his neck, and kissed him.

But the LORD of Armies is exalted by his justice, and the holy God demonstrates his holiness through his righteousness.

Therefore, since he has been exalted to the right hand of God and has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit, he has poured out what you both see and hear.For it was not David who ascended into the heavens, but he himself says: The Lord declared to my Lord,‘ Sit at my right handuntil I make your enemies your footstool.’“ Therefore let all the house of Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”When they heard this, they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles,“ Brothers, what should we do?”Peter replied,“ Repent and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

Do not boast so proudly, or let arrogant words come out of your mouth, for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and actions are weighed by him.

“ For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways.” This is the LORD’s declaration.

The person who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence indeed is the LORD, is blessed.

I waited patiently for the LORD, and he turned to me and heard my cry for help.He brought me up from a desolate pit, out of the muddy clay, and set my feet on a rock, making my steps secure.He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and they will trust in the LORD.

The brave-hearted have been plundered; they have slipped into their final sleep. None of the warriors was able to lift a hand.At your rebuke, God of Jacob, both chariot and horse lay still.And you— you are to be feared. When you are angry, who can stand before you?From heaven you pronounced judgment. The earth feared and grew quietwhen God rose up to judge and to save all the lowly of the earth. SelahEven human wrath will praise you; you will clothe yourself with the wrath that remains.

“ Stop fighting, and know that I am God, exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth.”The LORD of Armies is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah

Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came and kept crying out,“ Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely tormented by a demon.”Jesus did not say a word to her. His disciples approached him and urged him,“ Send her away because she’s crying out after us.”He replied,“ I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”But she came, knelt before him, and said,“ Lord, help me!”He answered,“ It isn’t right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”“ Yes, Lord,” she said,“ yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.”Then Jesus replied to her,“ Woman, your faith is great. Let it be done for you as you want.” And from that moment her daughter was healed.

Pay homage to the Son or he will be angry and you will perish in your rebellion, for his anger may ignite at any moment. All who take refuge in him are happy.

Wasn’t it necessary for the Messiah to suffer these things and enter into his glory?”Then beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted for them the things concerning himself in all the Scriptures.

Happy is the person who trusts in you, LORD of Armies!

The law came along to multiply the trespass. But where sin multiplied, grace multiplied even more

God exalted this man to his right hand as ruler and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

Now if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with patience.In the same way the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings.And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because he intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.

The Rock— his work is perfect; all his ways are just. A faithful God, without bias, he is righteous and true.

Who is a God like you, forgiving iniquity and passing over rebellion for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not hold on to his anger forever because he delights in faithful love.He will again have compassion on us; he will vanquish our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.You will show loyalty to Jacob and faithful love to Abraham, as you swore to our ancestors from days long ago.

I have surely heard Ephraim moaning,“ You disciplined me, and I have been disciplined like an untrained calf. Take me back, so that I can return, for you, LORD, are my God.After my return, I felt regret; After I was instructed, I struck my thigh in grief. I was ashamed and humiliated because I bore the disgrace of my youth.”Isn’t Ephraim a precious son to me, a delightful child? Whenever I speak against him, I certainly still think about him. Therefore, my inner being yearns for him; I will truly have compassion on him. This is the LORD’s declaration.

He exercised this power in Christ by raising him from the dead and seating him at his right hand in the heavens—far above every ruler and authority, power and dominion, and every title given, not only in this age but also in the one to come.And he subjected everything under his feet and appointed him as head over everything for the church,which is his body, the fullness of the one who fills all things in every way.

Rest in God alone, my soul, for my hope comes from him.He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will not be shaken.My salvation and glory depend on God, my strong rock. My refuge is in God.Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before him. God is our refuge. Selah

See, we count as blessed those who have endured. You have heard of Job’s endurance and have seen the outcome that the Lord brought about— the Lord is compassionate and merciful.

that he richly poured out on us with all wisdom and understanding.

There was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, looking forward to Israel’s consolation, and the Holy Spirit was on him.

I am at rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will never be shaken.

to the praise of his glorious grace that he lavished on us in the Beloved One.

You have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet you ask,“ How have we wearied him?” When you say,“ Everyone who does what is evil is good in the LORD’s sight, and he is delighted with them, or else where is the God of justice?”

how much less when you complain that you do not see him, that your case is before him and you are waiting for him.

Now we know that God’s judgment on those who do such things is based on the truth.Do you think— anyone of you who judges those who do such things yet do the same— that you will escape God’s judgment?Or do you despise the riches of his kindness, restraint, and patience, not recognizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?Because of your hardened and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment is revealed.He will repay each one according to his works:eternal life to those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality;but wrath and anger to those who are self-seeking and disobey the truth while obeying unrighteousness.There will be affliction and distress for every human being who does evil, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek;but glory, honor, and peace for everyone who does what is good, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek.

Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart be courageous. Wait for the LORD.

How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I surrender you, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I treat you like Zeboiim? I have had a change of heart; my compassion is stirred!I will not vent the full fury of my anger; I will not turn back to destroy Ephraim. For I am God and not man, the Holy One among you; I will not come in rage.

I will depart and return to my place until they recognize their guilt and seek my face; they will search for me in their distress.Come, let’s return to the LORD. For he has torn us, and he will heal us; he has wounded us, and he will bind up our wounds.He will revive us after two days, and on the third day he will raise us up so we can live in his presence.

The LORD passed in front of him and proclaimed: The LORD— the LORD is a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth,

but those who trust in the LORD will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not faint.

Jonah set out on the first day of his walk in the city and proclaimed,“ In forty days Nineveh will be demolished!”Then the people of Nineveh believed God. They proclaimed a fast and dressed in sackcloth— from the greatest of them to the least.When word reached the king of Nineveh, he got up from his throne, took off his royal robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.Then he issued a decree in Nineveh: By order of the king and his nobles: No person or animal, herd or flock, is to taste anything at all. They must not eat or drink water.Furthermore, both people and animals must be covered with sackcloth, and everyone must call out earnestly to God. Each must turn from his evil ways and from his wrongdoing.Who knows? God may turn and relent; he may turn from his burning anger so that we will not perish.God saw their actions— that they had turned from their evil ways— so God relented from the disaster he had threatened them with. And he did not do it.

The path of the righteous is level; you clear a straight path for the righteous.Yes, LORD, we wait for you in the path of your judgments. Our desire is for your name and renown.

“ This is my servant; I strengthen him, this is my chosen one; I delight in him. I have put my Spirit on him; he will bring justice to the nations.He will not cry out or shout or make his voice heard in the streets.He will not break a bruised reed, and he will not put out a smoldering wick; he will faithfully bring justice.He will not grow weak or be discouraged until he has established justice on earth. The coasts and islands will wait for his instruction.”

Discipline me, LORD, but with justice— not in your anger, or you will reduce me to nothing.Pour out your wrath on the nations that don’t recognize you and on the families that don’t call on your name, for they have consumed Jacob; they have consumed him and finished him off and made his homeland desolate.

Therefore, I am going to persuade her, lead her to the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her.

For he tells Moses, I will show mercy to whom I will show mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.So then, it does not depend on human will or effort but on God who shows mercy.For the Scripture tells Pharaoh, I raised you up for this reason so that I may display my power in you and that my name may be proclaimed in the whole earth.So then, he has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy and he hardens whom he wants to harden.

But I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.Do not rejoice over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will stand up; though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light.Because I have sinned against him, I must endure the LORD’s fury until he champions my cause and establishes justice for me. He will bring me into the light; I will see his salvation.

“ I have kept silent from ages past; I have been quiet and restrained myself. But now, I will groan like a woman in labor, gasping breathlessly.

Because of his sinful greed I was angry, so I struck him; I was angry and hid; but he went on turning back to the desires of his heart.I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will lead him and restore comfort to him and his mourners,

The mighty King loves justice. You have established fairness; you have administered justice and righteousness in Jacob.

“ Now I will rise up,” says the LORD.“ Now I will lift myself up. Now I will be exalted.You will conceive chaff; you will give birth to stubble. Your breath is fire that will consume you.The peoples will be burned to ashes, like thorns cut down and burned in a fire.

For the LORD said to me: I will quietly look out from my place, like shimmering heat in sunshine, like a rain cloud in harvest heat.
