They say to the seers,“ See no more visions!” and to the prophets,“ Give us no more visions of what is right! Tell us pleasant things, prophesy illusions.

but don’t prophesy again any more at Bethel; for it is the king’s sanctuary, and it is a royal house!”

For those who are such don’t serve our Lord, Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by their smooth and flattering speech, they deceive the hearts of the innocent.

“ Therefore Yahweh says concerning the men of Anathoth, who seek your life, saying,‘ You shall not prophesy in Yahweh’s name, that you not die by our hand;’

“ But you gave the Nazirites wine to drink, and commanded the prophets, saying,‘ Don’t prophesy!’

They say continually to those who despise me,‘ Yahweh has said,“ You will have peace;”’ and to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart they say,‘ No evil will come on you.’

Haven’t you seen a false vision, and haven’t you spoken a lying divination, in that you say,‘ Yahweh says;’ but I have not spoken?”“‘ Therefore the Lord Yahweh says:“ Because you have spoken falsehood and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you,” says the Lord Yahweh.“ My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who utter lying divinations. They will not be in the council of my people, neither will they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither will they enter into the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord Yahweh.”“‘ Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying,“ Peace;” and there is no peace. When one builds up a wall, behold, they plaster it with whitewash.

When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, and overcome them, and kill them.

saying,“ Didn’t we strictly command you not to teach in this name? Behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and intend to bring this man’s blood on us.”

who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and drove us out, and don’t please God, and are contrary to all men,forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved, to fill up their sins always. But wrath has come on them to the uttermost.

But because I tell the truth, you don’t believe me.

But so that this spreads no further among the people, let’s threaten them, that from now on they don’t speak to anyone in this name.”

So then, have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?

Then the princes said to the king,“ Please let this man be put to death; because he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words to them: for this man doesn’t seek the welfare of this people, but harm.”

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Yahweh, Micaiah the son of Imlah; but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” Jehoshaphat said,“ Don’t let the king say so.”Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said,“ Quickly get Micaiah the son of Imlah.”Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made himself horns of iron, and said,“ Yahweh says,‘ With these you will push the Syrians, until they are consumed.’”All the prophets prophesied so, saying,“ Go up to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper; for Yahweh will deliver it into the hand of the king.”The messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying,“ See now, the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth. Please let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak good.”

“ For from their least even to their greatest, everyone is given to covetousness. From the prophet even to the priest, everyone deals falsely.They have healed also the hurt of my people superficially, saying,‘ Peace, peace!’ when there is no peace.

Then Asa was angry with the seer, and put him in the prison; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time.

Ahab said to Elijah,“ Have you found me, my enemy?” He answered,“ I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do that which is evil in Yahweh’s sight.

Let them each return to his house in peace.’”The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ Didn’t I tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”Micaiah said,“ Therefore hear Yahweh’s word: I saw Yahweh sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.Yahweh said,‘ Who will entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ One spoke saying in this way, and another saying in that way.A spirit came out, stood before Yahweh, and said,‘ I will entice him.’“ Yahweh said to him,‘ How?’“ He said,‘ I will go, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’“ He said,‘ You will entice him, and will prevail also. Go and do so.’“ Now therefore, behold, Yahweh has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets; and Yahweh has spoken evil concerning you.”Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said,“ Which way did Yahweh’s Spirit go from me to speak to you?”Micaiah said,“ Behold, you shall see on that day, when you go into an inner room to hide yourself.”The king of Israel said,“ Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;and say,‘ The king says,“ Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.”’”Micaiah said,“ If you return at all in peace, Yahweh has not spoken by me.” He said,“ Listen, you people, all of you!”

Therefore I will give their wives to others, and their fields to those who will possess them. For everyone from the least even to the greatest is given to covetousness; from the prophet even to the priest everyone deals falsely.They have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying,“ Peace, peace,” when there is no peace.

The world can’t hate you, but it hates me, because I testify about it, that its works are evil.

and say,“ The Lord Yahweh says:‘ Woe to the women who sew pillows on all elbows, and make kerchiefs for the head of persons of every stature to hunt souls! Will you hunt the souls of my people, and save souls alive for yourselves?You have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to kill the souls who should not die, and to save the souls alive who should not live, by your lying to my people who listen to lies.’“ Therefore the Lord Yahweh says:‘ Behold, I am against your pillows, with which you hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms. I will let the souls go, even the souls whom you hunt to make them fly.I will also tear your kerchiefs, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they will be no more in your hand to be hunted. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.Because with lies you have grieved the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, and be saved alive.

Then the priests and the prophets spoke to the princes and to all the people, saying,“ This man is worthy of death; for he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears.”

“ Don’t prophesy!” They prophesy.“ Don’t prophesy about these things. Disgrace won’t overtake us.”

As he talked with him, the king said to him,“ Have we made you one of the king’s counselors? Stop! Why should you be struck down?” Then the prophet stopped, and said,“ I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this, and have not listened to my counsel.”

Now therefore, why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who makes himself a prophet to you,

If a man walking in a spirit of falsehood lies:“ I will prophesy to you of wine and of strong drink;” he would be the prophet of this people.

How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies, even the prophets of the deceit of their own heart?They intend to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they each tell his neighbor, as their fathers forgot my name because of Baal.The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream; and he who has my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the straw to the wheat?” says Yahweh.“ Isn’t my word like fire?” says Yahweh;“ and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own authority; and my people love to have it so. What will you do in the end of it?

Yet he sent prophets to them, to bring them again to Yahweh, and they testified against them; but they would not listen.The Spirit of God came on Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest; and he stood above the people, and said to them,“ God says,‘ Why do you disobey Yahweh’s commandments, so that you can’t prosper? Because you have forsaken Yahweh, he has also forsaken you.’”They conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of Yahweh’s house.

Say,‘ The king says,“ Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.”’”

There was also a man who prophesied in Yahweh’s name, Uriah the son of Shemaiah of Kiriath Jearim; and he prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah.When Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men and all the princes heard his words, the king sought to put him to death; but when Uriah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt.Then Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, Elnathan the son of Achbor, and certain men with him, into Egypt;and they fetched Uriah out of Egypt, and brought him to Jehoiakim the king, who killed him with the sword, and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people.
