But never again prophesy at Bethel, For it is the king’s sanctuary, And it is the royal residence.”

For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.

“ Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the men of Anathoth who seek your life, saying,‘ Do not prophesy in the name of the Lord, lest you die by our hand’—

“ But you gave the Nazirites wine to drink, And commanded the prophets saying,‘ Do not prophesy!’

They continually say to those who despise Me,‘ The Lord has said,“ You shall have peace”’; And to everyone who walks according to the dictates of his own heart, they say,‘ No evil shall come upon you.’”

Have you not seen a futile vision, and have you not spoken false divination? You say,‘ The Lord says,’ but I have not spoken.”Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:“ Because you have spoken nonsense and envisioned lies, therefore I am indeed against you,” says the Lord GOD.“ My hand will be against the prophets who envision futility and who divine lies; they shall not be in the assembly of My people, nor be written in the record of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter into the land of Israel. Then you shall know that I am the Lord God.“ Because, indeed, because they have seduced My people, saying,‘ Peace!’ when there is no peace— and one builds a wall, and they plaster it with untempered mortar—

When they finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them.

saying,“ Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man’s blood on us!”

who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they do not please God and are contrary to all men,forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved, so as always to fill up the measure of their sins; but wrath has come upon them to the uttermost.

But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me.

But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no man in this name.”

Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?

Therefore the princes said to the king,“ Please, let this man be put to death, for thus he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, by speaking such words to them. For this man does not seek the welfare of this people, but their harm.”

So the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ There is still one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the Lord; but I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” And Jehoshaphat said,“ Let not the king say such things!”Then the king of Israel called an officer and said,“ Bring Micaiah the son of Imlah quickly!”The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, having put on their robes, sat each on his throne, at a threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.Now Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah had made horns of iron for himself; and he said,“ Thus says the Lord:‘ With these you shall gore the Syrians until they are destroyed.’”And all the prophets prophesied so, saying,“ Go up to Ramoth Gilead and prosper, for the Lord will deliver it into the king’s hand.”Then the messenger who had gone to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying,“ Now listen, the words of the prophets with one accord encourage the king. Please, let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak encouragement.”

“ Because from the least of them even to the greatest of them, Everyone is given to covetousness; And from the prophet even to the priest, Everyone deals falsely.They have also healed the hurt of My people slightly, Saying,‘ Peace, peace!’ When there is no peace.

Let each return to his house in peace.’”And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ Did I not tell you he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”Then Micaiah said,“ Therefore hear the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing on His right hand and His left.And the Lord said,‘ Who will persuade Ahab king of Israel to go up, that he may fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ So one spoke in this manner, and another spoke in that manner.Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, and said,‘ I will persuade him.’ The Lord said to him,‘ In what way?’So he said,‘ I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And the Lord said,‘ You shall persuade him and also prevail; go out and do so.’Therefore look! The Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these prophets of yours, and the Lord has declared disaster against you.”Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said,“ Which way did the spirit from the Lord go from me to speak to you?”And Micaiah said,“ Indeed you shall see on that day when you go into an inner chamber to hide!”Then the king of Israel said,“ Take Micaiah, and return him to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king’s son;and say,‘ Thus says the king:“ Put this fellow in prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and water of affliction, until I return in peace.”’”But Micaiah said,“ If you ever return in peace, the Lord has not spoken by me.” And he said,“ Take heed, all you people!”

The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil.

and say,‘ Thus says the Lord GOD:“ Woe to the women who sew magic charms on their sleeves and make veils for the heads of people of every height to hunt souls! Will you hunt the souls of My people, and keep yourselves alive?And will you profane Me among My people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, killing people who should not die, and keeping people alive who should not live, by your lying to My people who listen to lies?”‘ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:“ Behold, I am against your magic charms by which you hunt souls there like birds. I will tear them from your arms, and let the souls go, the souls you hunt like birds.I will also tear off your veils and deliver My people out of your hand, and they shall no longer be as prey in your hand. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.“ Because with lies you have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and you have strengthened the hands of the wicked, so that he does not turn from his wicked way to save his life.

And the priests and the prophets spoke to the princes and all the people, saying,“ This man deserves to die! For he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears.”

“ Do not prattle,” you say to those who prophesy. So they shall not prophesy to you; They shall not return insult for insult.

So it was, as he talked with him, that the king said to him,“ Have we made you the king’s counselor? Cease! Why should you be killed?” Then the prophet ceased, and said,“ I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not heeded my advice.”

Now therefore, why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth who makes himself a prophet to you?

If a man should walk in a false spirit And speak a lie, saying,‘ I will prophesy to you of wine and drink,’ Even he would be the prattler of this people.

How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies? Indeed they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart,who try to make My people forget My name by their dreams which everyone tells his neighbor, as their fathers forgot My name for Baal.“ The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream; And he who has My word, let him speak My word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat?” says the Lord.“ Is not My word like a fire?” says the Lord,“ And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

The prophets prophesy falsely, And the priests rule by their own power; And My people love to have it so. But what will you do in the end?

Yet He sent prophets to them, to bring them back to the Lord; and they testified against them, but they would not listen.Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, who stood above the people, and said to them,“ Thus says God:‘ Why do you transgress the commandments of the Lord, so that you cannot prosper? Because you have forsaken the Lord, He also has forsaken you.’”So they conspired against him, and at the command of the king they stoned him with stones in the court of the house of the Lord.

and say,‘ Thus says the king:“ Put this fellow in prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and water of affliction, until I come in peace.”’”

Now there was also a man who prophesied in the name of the Lord, Urijah the son of Shemaiah of Kirjath Jearim, who prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah.And when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death; but when Urijah heard it, he was afraid and fled, and went to Egypt.Then Jehoiakim the king sent men to Egypt: Elnathan the son of Achbor, and other men who went with him to Egypt.And they brought Urijah from Egypt and brought him to Jehoiakim the king, who killed him with the sword and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people.
